accelerometer for pedestrian safety system
xk 2006 has anyone got one of these sensors or know if the new ones will fit is i have a faulty one and went into jag dealers they ordered one for me only for it to come and look totally different when he checked the guy said there was a tech bulletin from 2011 saying they refit the two sensors in a different position
so i would have to buy two instead of one and pay for two hours labour instead of 5 mins fitting myself.has anyone any info on this or even better got a second hand one i can buy?(the sensors are located on the back of the front crossmember in front of the radiator, blue in colour and part no.6W83-14B006-BD
many thanks

Many thanks for the PDF I will do the job myself I just wonder if it will have an adverse affect if I just do the one that's faulty.i will of course drill the other side while I'm at it in case I have to change that one as we'll,I have been all over google seen the one in Chinese it would be easier if I could track a second hand one down here's hoping.
Thanks guys and if anyone has one please contact me?
Cheers

And yeah, that really is what it's for! The idea is: when a pedestrian is flipped onto a normal bonnet, the metal will bend and then they hit the engine, which doesn't bend. The ped protection system detects the impact and fires two pyro units attached to the bonnet latches, releasing the latches & pushing the rear edge of the bonnet upwards. So, the metal is coming up as the body is coming down; that absorbs a lot of the impact and also increases the gap between the bonnet and the engine. Result (hopefully): severe bruising rather than cracked skull.
