Default Adaptive Front Lighting Problem

The self centering headlights don't anymore. Am getting the flashing icon on the instrument cluster.

No codes but I only have the OBDll reader. Replaced both fuses even though the original ones weren't blown. AGM battery less than 3 months old.

Other than bringing it in to the shop, any thoughts?

Thanks,

Every once in awhile I get the flashing icon. I turn the car off, then give each headlight a bit of a rap. Restart the car and all is wonderful.
Hey, it's worth a shot, before replacing any modules.......

It could also be the one of the height sensors. Worth getting a copy of the electrical manual and do a bit of sleuthing.

Just finished 2 week issue. Check grounds behind light and the one in fender by strut. Good luck

had it on my '07.. the garage here (UAE) replaced the entire unit for around 2200 dollars.. but a garage in the Netherlands said it usually is a cabling problem.. and they fix it for 60 dollars or something in that range.. search for jaguar velthoven (exco).. so its worth checking it out i guess

I get it intermitantly. I do what CeeJay does and mine goes away as well. Still, I'm gonna ask next time I bring it in.

I get the fault light every time I go to the parking garage ramp at the airport. Like clock work.. right hand turn up the airport ramp. Restart the car and it stays off (until I see the parking ramp again). Odd issue.

Well I found the section in the XK Service Manual for this system. There seem to be a number of modules that send signals to the AFS control module and a fault in any will cause the system to shut down. So tomorrow it's off to the shop to see what codes there are and go from there. I'll let you know the result.

I appreciate all of the input. Cee Jay, I especially got a kick out of your "BFH" approach. I certainly tried it. Glad it works for you!

Thanks again to all.

Best,
