Default After three years and 48K miles I sold my XKR

Bought it three

and a half years ago with 20K miles but at 68k I decided it was time for something newer. Here's pictures of the Jaguar and its replacement. What do you think?

I prefer the X150 Jaguar over the SL, and black in Florida is brutally hot. It's just not for me.

Sideways move at best, but if you were achin' for something new I guess it works. Maybe should have kept both?

2010 XKR with almost 70 thousand miles. 2014 550 SL with 30K. Seemed like a good move. Time will tell.

The Mercedes looks sleek all murdered out.

Both are great cars. Like any premier brand, the reward hopefully exceeds the dent in the wallet. Enjoy!

Good luck with it. I like the car - looked at buying one before I found the X150 - but not so much the gangsta look.

The SL550 is a coupvertible, correct? That's a nice feature.

Both cars are quite beautiful!

I've always loved SLs; my great aunt had every single body style from inception to r230 whenshe passed. When she passed she still had her 61 190SL and her 07 SL65. I don't think they made an ugly SL in any era, they even looked nice when the r107 was forced to have the US diving board bumpers. I'm super partial to SLs and your new one looks fantastic!

Have fun with it!

If so, I think you will regret getting into SL as soon as you discover just how troublesome its hydraulic suspension could be. Get Pentosin changed right away and do rodeo, this will buy you some time.

Don't know much about them but I've always liked the look. Would be great if you could show a side view Chaz. Also, will miss having you around here.

Both are great cars, but I prefer the XKR over the SL. Just preference at the end of the day. I think the XKR has timeless looks that will always endure, whereas the SL not so much. How important that is, is just a matter of personal preference etc. While I like to look at the 'gangsta' style, murdered out cars, I could never imagine myself driving one or arriving someplace and getting out of one. Maybe I'm too old for that sort of look - if I was decades younger, maybe I'd love it. But it's just too shouty for me nowadays. Again, it's preference, there's no right or wrong look for a car., save what its owner wants. It has no moral dimension to it.

As regards black, I love black cars to look at. But having owned one, I would never have another. In England, with our generally crappy weather, it is impossible to keep them clean. I had to clean mine after pretty much every trip, no matter how short. It's made worse because of where I live - in a very rural area, surrounded by farmland, but even I get fed up of washing my car every time it goes out. I find that Lunar Grey, the colour of my XKR, is about the best colour I have ever had for not showing dirt, so I need to wash it less. I hate putting a dirty car in the garage, but with the Lunar Grey XKR, it's not so bad. Again, it depends on preference, local conditions etc.

It's a 2014 version without the adaptive suspension you're referring to. That was standard equipment until 2013, when MB made it an option. Happily mine does not have it

Am going to have the black tinting on the lights removed. That was too over the top for me.

Yeah, I'll fix that "portrait of a landscape of a portrait" debacle to the best of my abilities.
I'm not blaming anyone, it's just the way people think nowadays......... too difficult to turn a phone 90 degrees.

Not too bash your car but I have nothing but troubles with mine... they're just way over engineered and plagued with problems
