Default Air Conditioning Condensation Leaking int passenger cabin

I have an '08 XK and I am experiencing water leaking into the passenger cabin when air conditioning is used. I thought that it was simply a blocked drain line that needed to be cleaned or blown out but local tech/jaguar authority advised that correcting the problem is much deeper and that it could require separating the engine from the transmission (an ominous and expensive solution). Can the drainage problem be corrected more easily and less expensively?

Search for ‘duckbill’, as its lips stick together and block the exit of the condensation. Cheaper ways to fix it, and with an XK it’s easier than the /R.

Change or cut the duck bill

It may be too late... Once a year, every year, I adjust the climate control to direct air strictly through the vents. Then put the fan on high and close all vents for a few mins.
This simple procedure has kept the duckbill working properly.

When I drove my car back from Penn after I bought it, at the end of the trip I did this.
Nice big puddle on the ground next to the gas pump.

That's a very good tip.

Run, do not walk, away from that "local tech/Jaguar authority". The duckbill fix is an easy DIY job on an XK; not so easy on an XKR because the supercharger is in the way. My technician was able to use a borescope camera to look from under the car and see the duckbill tube and slice the end off.

See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lution-149349/

Good luck!

Stuart

I took your advice. Closed all vents, positioned vent to "face", put the fan on high and drove about 10 miles. No detectable water in the passenger cabin and water on the ground.
I dodged a bullet. I will take your advice and do this periodically to keep the line open. Much appreciated

If your "duckbill" hasn't been cut I still would suggest doing so. Fortunately, when I bought my 07 XKR 11 years ago it had been done. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and the standing water in the plenum had taken out the blower motor. Jaguar motors are quite expensive, and I was able to come up with an alternative procedure to replace the OEM motor. I had posted the procedure on the forum and it may still be there if you need to do a motor replacement.
