Default A/C water in Passenger foot well

Has anyone had experience with intermittent water in the passenger floor welll from A/C? Took off under dash cover to check out but has not leaked water this since I removed the cover to see if could locate where water was coming from...I was assuming it was a plugged drain port but has not happened in a while...

my unit had condensation that froze the drain and caused a back up. The water started dripping in the passenger footwell.

Thanks for providing this info. I will add this to my list of "fixes" for future reference on my 08 XK.

Cheers

There is an other, recent thread on this forum about the same issue. Looks like there is some kind of a design problem with the air conditioner drain hose as it seems to get plugged up much more frequently than with other makes.

I had the same problem on my '08 about a month back. My carpet was heavily soaked following a 150 miles drive with the air conditioner running. The dealer replaced the hose under warranty. They had to take apart the dash, making it a fair sized job.

Thanks for all of the great information guys...interesting to note that I have not had this problem again since the outside air temperature has gone up over 100 here in Texas....may have been freezing water...still seems that it is a poor design as pointed out by requiring a redo TSB. That sure sucks for those out of warranty....and if the dealers where you guys are are anything like the ones I have had to deal with you are SOL anyway...even if in warranty. Such a beautiful car and yet such a pain to have taken care of.... truely a shame.

I don't see the Repair Procedure. Can anyone tell me what it is?

This is the answer I gave on the other thread.

I had a water leak in 2009. It was caused by a disconnected tube (A/C?) under the carpet on the left side of the front passenger side well.

Hope that helps.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions, but I finally bit the bullet andtook it to the Jag dealer who dropped the transmission down, cleared the blocked pipe, re-routed said pipe to remove the kink so it won't block again (so they say!) and put it all back together. Five hours of labour! Not cheap, but worth it to have someone who knows what he is doing work on the car.

I checked the Jaguar site and they admit it is a design flaw on the 2008 XK....but without a permanent fix. The replacement of the tube requires removing the dash (and invariably something isn't pluuged back in correctly) and takes 6 - 8 hours. It's a $1,000 band aid for a $2 part. On the Range Rovers, the same problem arose, but they found a retrofit solution and did a recall.

The proceedure described in the bulletin involved removing the dash and replacing the drain tube on the back if the hvac unit. The old tube looks like a duck bill and the lips of the duck bill get stuck together and then the condensation from the a/c that us suppose to drain backs up in the hvac box and the overflows out the blower motor housing. The proprer fix is to replace this tube with the updated tube that shouldn't get stuck closed again.

The method previously describe with lowering the trans down is not replacing this tube. the tech is probably separating the tube that us stuck together and opening the mouth of the "duck billed" opening by cutting it. This method does
work and is cheaper to do. But the opening of the tube is designed like this to keep spiders and bugs out if you vehicle so I no longer modify the tube and prefer to replace it with the updated part. Just my opinion.

2007 XK under Select Edition Warranty until August 2012

Drove in last night and noticed plastic grocery bag in passenger footwell was slightly wet. Caressed felt under glove box - water gushed downward.

Called dealer service advisor today and was informed Select Edition Warranty does not cover problem.

List price for fix: $1197.

Oh, well, so much for the security afforded by the Select Edition Warranty.

Ask the to contact the jaguar rep and ask for assistance on paying for the repair. If you are professional about it and are a good customer they will usually help out since there is a bulletin for this concern and it is such a large expense. Worst they can do is say no. I think there also is a jaguar customer service number that you can call too.

they charged labor rate for factory warranty to do the TSB and its total BS for techs because Jaguar pays more to pull and replace the dash from the cover lifting than doing the ac drain. problem...you have to remove the dash AND the HVAC unit and freon to do the job. alot more work for less time than doing the dash by itself..go figure I can tell you who takes this crap up the **** and its not a customer
Jaguar controls costs under warranty by under paying times on jobs to techs to do the jobs in almost ALL cases. There are so many times we cant beat even with regular repetiveness. So you are no longer in warranty we charge the time it takes
I know many customers THINK we get salary or hourly pay. We dont unless youre union. we get a hourly pay for the time a job pays no matter how long it takes to do the job. How better to control your costs in a business than to underpay times to employees...........

Well, I am now an exclusive member of this club. Yesterday I was on my way home and was stopped at a traffic light. My phone slipped onto the passenger seat as I was starting off from the green light and I looked down in time to see a significant amount of water dump out onto the floor mat and then continue dripping.

I've had my 07 for about a year, and used the AC through last years Summer with no problem. I was hoping this wouldn't happen but apparently it's just a matter of time with the design as it is...

I sent an email to Jaguar USA to see if they would provide assistance in fixing this problem. We'll see what happens. I have an extended warranty and am gonna see if they will cover it.
