Default Aleutian rims (from XJ) on XK?

Hi colleagues,
I have a chance to buy a relatively cheap set of original XJ rims (named Aleutian). Size at the front 9x19 - rear 10x19 (offset both 49). I plan to buy tires in original size (245/40/19 at the front and 275/35/19 at the rear).

Is here anyone with experiences on a XK and/or a picture of these rims on a XK? The search could not help me.

Thx in advance,
bernd

Are the offsets the same as the wheels currently on your XK? If not, they won't fit unless you use spacers (not what I would do, but others may disagree).

Currently my XK 5.0 has 9x20 Kasuga rims at the front (offset also 49), at the rear 10x20 with offset 46 (and no spacers). Size of the tires 255/30/20 front and 283/30/20 rear.

Obviously, the fronts will fit. The rears ???

You want to determine if wheels with a 49 offset will fit on the rear where your current Kasuga wheels have a 46 offset. Your current front Kasuga wheels have a 49 offset.

Simply put a front Kasuga on the rear and see how it fits. If it rubs anywhere, so will the Aleutian since it has a 49 offset.

The facelift XK has from factory 9,5x19 with 51 offset at the rear. The Aleutian 10x19 is a little bit wider (10" like my Kasugas) and has an offset exactly between original size and my current Kasugas. That means to my mind that they will fit. Hope that someone has a picture of a XK with aleutian rims.

Thx,
bernd

Was this ever confirmed to fit?
My info is that Aleutians are 9.0 * 19 ET 49 for the front and 10.0 * 19 ET46 for the rears.
I found some online, and want to fit them om my 4.2 XKR (without alcons) with 20mm spacers on the rear.

Check the sizes, backspacing and offsets, then compare and space as necessary.

i used this calculator when planning and purchasing aftermarket wheels for my XK: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

if you use the search feature on that calculator you can pull up your specific car or look at close matches. they have multiple sizes listed for each: i'm not sure if that means factory options, or someone has checked the math and they're good to go, or what.

mine are rohana rc22, front 9x20 ET40 and rear 10x20 ET42. clearance is good, they came cut to the precise center bore for the hub; i have no spacers or adapters.

as i bought the car, the previous owner had already put some other aftermarket wheels on that i didn't like (8.5x20 ET38, 10x20 ET42) and which had improper mating surfaces for normal TPMS sensors. these are so similar to what i then bought, that i have no basis for comparison with stock.

using the vehicle lookup on this page, you can find an XKR option for 9x20 ET45, 10x20 ET45 and an XKR-S option for 9x20 ET49, 10x20 ET46. i simply reasoned that i could use ET40, ET42 safely because i have smaller brakes anyway. turned out okay.

I use this page quite often when contemplating tires, wheels and vehicles. It's really quite handy.

I thought let's confirm it myself,
I bought them. Specs:
front 9.0 x 19 ET49, tires 235/45
rear 10.0 x 19 ET46, tires 275/40
The tires have a slightly bigger circumference, and the rear ones are currently mounted without spacers.
All fits without rubbing, but the rears should be brought outwards 20mm or so.
I paid €500 including very good tires, michelin pilot alpins (winter).
The front tires of my senta's are showing shocking defects on the inside, glad I switched over (see last pic).

excellent! glad they fit. aesthetically, i have to agree with the spacers. the differences between our cars are significant in that respect. for completeness, for future readers, i've plugged the numbers for your rear tires/wheels into the calculator, and made some assumptions about the measurements regarding suspension clearance:

you can see that if the car was designed with no scrub radius (unlikely? should be slightly positive, right?) that yours would now be negative.

this area of design/engineering is beyond my competency. i am guessing that any GT car like ours would need to come with a slightly positive scrub radius, as designed, to give it the steering feedback its target market desires.

side note: there was no value of suspension clearance small enough that the calculator showed the OEM design OK, but an interference with the replacement wheel. if i reduce it to 10mm they are still both estimated in the clear, and then when i reduce it to 9mm the calculator thinks both will have tire/suspension interference.

Bob,
Wow! That's a scary separation on that front tire! Worse that it's on the inside where you'd have a hard time seeing it! That could have resulted in a really bad day, had it let go. Glad you caught it.

@Cabrio Bob Thanks for posting the story and pictures about your Aleutian rims. Thanks to you, I've just bought a set and will be fitting them to my XK in the next couple of days. I have a couple of questions:

Did you use the original XK wheel nuts on the Aleutian Rims?
Have you fitted the spacers and if so did you manage to get away with 20mm on the front and rear?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Craig.

Hello CraigXK,

Front is a direct bolt on,
rear needs 20mm spacers. I bought these:
https://www.spoorverbredershop.nl/contents/nl/p384.html
Original bolts can be used.

edit:
this is an equivalent UK product:

This is the only pic I could find.
Please note that the tires have a bigger circumference compared to stock.
