Am I getting gouged for my insurance? Please compare...
I'm still hurting from the insurance bill I got handed by Farmer's Insurance when I upgraded to the 2010 XKR Coupe. Am I overpaying, or do these numbers sound about right?
I'm a single mid 40's guy with no tickets on my record (all the old ones expired and came off my record six months ago). I live in the S.F. Bay Area, use the care less than 12k a month (at least that's the plan), and I'm paying just over _$2,000_ a year for insurance. Ouch.
Terms:
Bodily/Property damage: 250k/500k
Comprehensive: $500 deductible
Collision: $500 deductible
Footnote: OEM Parts only adds $120 to the bill. Is this necessary? Are there enough non factory parts for a 2010 XKR to worry about an OEM only clause? Curious...
Anyone out there with a similar car in Norcal or the Bay Area? Even other regions, L.A., anywhere, I'd be interested to know if this is the price for driving such a great car or if I should hit the phone and shop around.
Thanks, really...

I'm not an XK owner (yet), but my insurance inside of the District of Columbia was $1200/yr for my '05 X-Type. Last July I moved 4 miles away to northern Virginia...new rate was HALF my old rate. I'm still within a stone's throw to DC. Seems location matters more in insurance than it does in real estate. The insurance agent said rates can differ greatly by zip code, or even across the street.

It's hard to find rhyme or reason to insurance rates.
I have my 1995 Jag and 2005 Honda on my policy....with a teenage driver on the policy as well.
$1900/year with Enumclaw jumped to $4800/year (really!) after my daughter had an at-fault accident.
Several companies quoted me $3500-$4500/year. Progressive got me the same coverage as my original Enumclaw policy for $2300/year
You just gotta keep shopping around
Cheers

I've been with AMICA insurance for decades and been very happy with their services and prices. I also live in CA, most of it in the SF Bay Area but presently in the foothills about Sacramento.
For my '08 XK my yearly fees are $1043.
Liability 500K
Collision deduct 1000
Comprehensive deduct 250
7500 miles/year
I get their multi-car discount, not sure how much that is.

1,465 every 6 months, and thats if I pay in full!
they killed me when I dropped my lexus off the plan. was paying about 500 less.
what's really killing me is an accident where they said I was 50% at fault, when those points go away next year if the price isn't significantly lower than I'm dropping this insurer

I currently pay GEICO $914.80/yr to insure my 2009 XKR Portfolio Cvt in suburban Atlanta.
Coverages: Liability $300/300K; Comprehensive & Collision $100K; $500 Deductibles; 50+ age rating. Not driven to/from work, <7500 mi/yr.
XKR policy discounts total $290.30, as follows:
Multiple vehicles: $144.60
5-Yr Good Driver: $84.60
Defensive driver course: $43.90
ABS: $11.10
Anti-Theft: $6.10
Without discounts, policy would cost $1,205.10.
