Hi guys,
Been a while. My wife needs an idea for me for Xmas and figured, puddle lights for the 2014 XKR convertible that already has the normal door puddle lights. Looking for the Jag logo ones but only see threads of 12.00 Amazon cheap ones or shipping from China.
Anyone have an updated post about these and find ones that look good for more than 12 months?

I know what mean about cheap logo puddle lights that don't last. My first set of Growler logo puddle lights faded away after about a year. I'm on my second set - Leaper logo - that I bought from Alibaba before COVID that were cheap, but needed a little modification to fit. When they die, I'll put the OEM lights back in. I don't buy Made in China any more unless there is no alternative.

 

I'm much the same as Stuart S, I have bought three el cheapo AliExpress Chinesium sets so far, two growlers and the current leaper (exactly the same as Stuart's). Both of the "red growler" sets faded away to almost zero colour within about three months and on one the image developed a bunch of cracks. The current leaper set is still going strong but it's not coloured anyway and it's only been in for a couple of months.
I've done a fair bit of research on these and AFAICT these cheap AliExpress or Amazon or Fleabay Chinesium ones are all there is in the way of Jag logo puddle lights (either growler, leaper or text only) and there is no such thing as a high quality set.

 

I got this set like six years ago. The PAX side looks perfect but the driver side one has lost the red bits, they turned white. It still looks great though. (the blue and yellow is a photo artifact, it is just white)

 

Here's a much better idea for your Xmas gift, if you don't already have it. It's what the factory forgot.


Be sure to get it with the optional rear quarter window controller. That enables all 4 windows to be up when the top is down, which greatly reduces cabin air turbulence on the highway especially when used with a rear wind blocker screen.

I have two sets for both of our XK's...both from Ebay. No problems so far but the only complaint is they throw the logo/light in front of the door, not behind where you are going to put your foot.

 

I have the eBay versions on my Audi and they really fade after less than a year when heavily used (driver door). But, because of the really low price ($10 per 4-pack), I bought three (3x) 4-packs, and swapping them in & out takes a matter of minutes, so I'm pretty happy with them.

Side note: my Range Rover Sport came with them from the factory and they still look great after several years, so somebody must make some worth a crap, somewhere.
