first day on the job in the jag forums. i changed-out many interior oem bulbs to led. when done, i left several bulbs in the.ashtray. as i was scooping the bulbs from the.ashtray a light came on in the ashtray. is their a bulb for the ashtray, or do i have a magic car? thanks.and i'll.come to u.guys with.more.important matters as time moves on,

I've never noticed that on mine - it's not in the workshop manual Maybe it's just part of the instrument panel lighting, directed there by fibre optics.

 

The Cigar Lighter has an illumination ring (item 7 - a green plastic translucent ring with a small bulb).

This shines through a circular green window in the side of the ashtray to illuminate it.

gentlemen thanks for the info on the ashtray light. the input re: green ring around lighter i will ck. son-in-law is doing the convertion so i want to get my monies work!

 

I checked out my 2004 XKR and found there is a light in the ashtray. Since I do not have an ashtray insert (no big thing since I have not smoked in 25 years) it was very obvious when you have the cover open and the headlights are on. There is a small hole with a light in it on the driver side of where the ashtray insert goes in. I would assume it lights up around the ashtray when the insert is there.
