Autobio

Welcome to the form but you'll need to explain (at least to me) what you post intended to say. I guess I don't know what an "autobiography" is so maybe you can elaborate on it. Also the XK is the base engine and the XKR is the supercharged version so it has more HP. I'm sure others will chime in here once there is a little more clarity as to what you are looking for.

My personal opinion and a choice I had to make 5 years ago - Do I get a 2010 XK coupe with the NA 5.0L V8 (385 HP) or a 2009 XKR with the supercharged 4.2L V8 (420 HP) since the price was about the same? I chose the new car (the 2010 XK) because the performance was very similar (I drove both cars), and Jaguar made some improvements in the 2010 year. All Jaguar XKs that were sent to the U.S. in 2010 came as "portfolio editions" with some extra features - not so in 2011. I don't know if this answered your question, and some others on this forum may have a different opinion.

If money isn't a deciding factor, I would suggest going with a 2010 model. They are better pretty much all around. 5.0 liter, Rotary shifter and full LED tail lights are the most noticeable, if you like that sort of thing. Also, if you think you may ever want to add more power, the only way to make that happen Reliably and "Cheaply" is to buy an XKR instead of the base XK, as power adders are pretty much non existent. I've also heard that ALL 2010s came with a full-leather interior instead of a mix of leather and vinyl on the non-contact parts. Is that correct? While shopping for my kitty, I ruled out the pre-2010s right at the start.

Portfolio package for 4.2L X150 Jaguars was not available on XK (normally aspirated, 300HP) models (North American market).
Portfolio package was available only on 2008 and 2009 XKR (supercharged, 420HP) models. Exclusive exterior color for 2008 was Celestial Black with Cremona wheels and for 2009 was Shadow Gray with Selena wheels. Options included Adaptive Cruise Control and interior trim colors and materials.
For details for the 2008 XKR Portfolio, see: 2008 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition - Car News - Car and Driver Alcon brakes were standard.
For details of the 2009 XKR Portfolio, see: 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Details Alcon brakes were optional.
A Portfolio package was available for 5.0L normally-aspirated XK models (2010-up), but not the XKR models.
I'm sure this was done to confuse us Yanks.

I........ don't know. Mine has it, but I don't know if it was an option. I bought my car a couple years old. I also have the 20" wheels and 16-way seats so I just assumed mine was fully optioned when ordered new. I really should order the build sheet for it so I know all this information.

In mho the 2010 xk is an all around superior vehicle when compared to the 2007 -2009 xks. 5.0 liter engine, direct injection, etc., more horsepower and torque, tighter build, more dirvetrain options built in (winter, normal, dynamic) etc, etc.. So You can probably find a NA 2010 xk for around the same prices as 2009 xkr (supercharged) and get roughly the same hp and torque. Good luck and good hunting.
