The XKR-S is a huge beast... How it manages to get 23mpg freeway going 70mph is beyond me but for the 120 of her 1200 total miles i put on her indeed she gave me that mileage.
The seats are racing seats in appearance and function. I feel they are not as relaxed as they should be if this is a true daily driver. Missing a cooled function in a Superbeast GT meant for warm weather is a downer!!
The sound is nowhere near as loud as the F-type. It can be much more suttle.... You don't have all those cracks and pops.
I'm getting used to the sound system but it not as good as the one in my 09 Nissan maxima (?!?).
I love this Italian Racing Red XKR-S.... It's not going to travel into the nasty buggy Appalachian mountains with me as my daily!!! a more suttle cool seated BLACK XKR with 175 spoiler should do the trick! I'd have liked the performance exhaust but am ok without it I guess. With the XKRS a bit stiff....can't wait to feel how this car rides and drives!!! Will report back when it comes in.

Congratulations!
the cooled seats is a nice option. you 're the only one i know with 2 xk, do you plant to keep the xkrs for a long time, low mileage, in case it retail for more in some years?

I guess I forgot to mention - I payed for the car to be transported here to the dealership - however I have not bought the car yet until I do a thorough walkaround and inspect it, test drive it. Ive contacted local dealership which will do an inspection as well if I can get it set up. The price to send it here was 399 from the east coast/maryland to Columbus, OH. It has yet to arrive and has been about 10 days
The carfax looks fine (payed for 1 report and printed it out) - it was owned a year as a private lease in maryland, ran for 10k miles in 8 months, and had the 10k mile maintenance in accordance with jaguars recommendations.
It has not been ran for almost 8 months though (entire 2013 year has been on dealer lot x 2 dealerships). I see the only repair problem has been the windshield which I will investigate what was repaired.
The repair ocurred at the time of normal maintenance. Nothing has been replaced. The computer was "reprogrammed" once...not sure what that means but I see it alot on newer XK's even at times.
No electrical wiring checks or brakes replaced/etc. Hopefully it was not "hot dogged". The tread was checked to be in the green recently but will have dealership im hiring to check the car look at that as well.
It will be nice to get a 3rd party jaguar dealership opinion on this car before purchasing.
It will still have approximately 27 months warranty and 39,000 miles bumper to bumper left. Its next scheduled maintenance even though not run is going to be covered in November.
It has 2 more oil changes and general maintenance on Jaguar. Warranty runs out 12/2015 and if I buy it...it will have full maintenance done and 49,999.99 miles ran on that day

When it comes to Carmax the price is the price... It's my investigation so I would walk away and that is that. I would be out the 400 transfer fee and fee to dealership as well. In essence losing 500 to protect another 78,400 after tax is not all that bad though - still sucks!!

I guess it's because the US is such a big place, and I come from and live in smaller countries, but you guys buying cars from thousands of miles away, sight unseen, just boggles me. I know you can make the deal contingent on a final inspection, but you have to pay to ship the car to you in order to do it - and some people don't even do that, they just buy it. Scary stuff...
I bought mine from a dealer in Coventry (only a mile or so from the old Jaguar mothership at Browns Lane), but that's only a couple of hours away from home in London by public transport. I was able to go there, drive the car & conclude the deal, then drive it home. If I didn't like it, I'd just have got back on the train and be out £100 for the fare.

Are they shipping the car to you without receiving payment? Who pays for the shipment back if you decide not to accept it. I can't believe they are shipping the car to you without receiving payment. Wouldn't it be much easier for you to go to the car to do the PPI instead of shipping the car across the country. $399 for shipping is extremely cheap, even for open trailer transport. When I had my car shipped from West Palm Beach to Portland, ME, closed transport, it cost me $1,600--open was $850.
Would you ship a car across the country without the buyer paying for it? I sure wouldn't. What's up with this? I hope everything works out for you. Do they have any Ferrari 458's they want to ship to me to test drive????

I guess it's because CarMax is such a big company with sites all over the US that they probably move inventory around all the time? It's cheaper than a plane ticket and definitely better than site unseen. Not a bad deal, really. It's no more than losing a small deposit after backing out of a deal.
I hear you. It's not for me, either. I'm way too chicken.
...but you know, I have trouble backing out of deals anyway. Too worried about making people mad, what they will think of me, stupid stuff like that. Some people don't have those hang-ups.

That is Carmax for you... They have no grequiremrnt to buy the car!!! I simply paid to have it shipped and held period. The car is here and they are waiting for Ohio registration and the title to arrive before I can test drive it. My Jag dealer said they are ready to inspect it. Yes it is because Carmax is such a large entity but it was from Maryland to Ohio only in open container truck 399. If you want a car in California, if they will ship, it will cost twice as much. Being that it would only cost 400 and 130 for Jag inspection I am looking at a 530 loss walking away if I don't buy the car... But I get to walk away Scott free!!! Love it!!
