Default Aux audio 2008 XK w/Premium Sound

I am in the process of purchasing a 2008 xk with the premium sound package. I was wondering if it comes with a headphone or RCA aux in jack? I found lots of info about ipod/phone integration but not plain old aux in.

Thanks in advance!

That is what I was afraid of. Does aux in come with the ipod jack or do I need to figure out another solution? I am hoping to use aux in so I can hook my android phone up to the car stereo and play pandora amongst other streaming sources.

My 08 has the iphone cable and the USB with RCA jacks but no headphone jack. I too have an android phone but no way for it to connect. I can't get the phone to work with the USB connector either so I just plugged in USB stick with MP3 files on it. It's definitely unfortunate but not enough to make me go back to the iphone anytime soon.

Default You can purchase from Radio Shack the RCA to single headphone

Jack to plug into your droids headphone jack and play Pandora. That's
what I do. Works like a charm! The cable can be had for under ten bucks or 19 if you want the monster cable version.

Are you talking about a USB to audio cable?

No he's talking about a cable that uses the phones headphone output to the two RCA jack inputs.

Tom the audio jacks are an option on our cars. If you don't have them you can talk to your dealer. I believe its about $600 installed.

Ouch, I'll stick to burning MP3's @ about $1 each. I've created 3 MP3 CD's with over 100 songs on each CD and will just load the 6 CD changer that way.

Thanks

Tom

burning CDs is a good option but I will miss having streaming radio in the car... I guess I will call the dealer and see if i can swing a deal before I pick up the car.

FYI,
The kit can be had for just under $300.00 but my local Jag dealer is saying it will take 3-4 Hrs to install (aka $375-$500). Has anyone tried to put one of these in on their own? I already ordered and paid for the part.

I just installed one this past weekend. It took a couple of hours. Can be purchased from a forum sponsor for about 60 less than the 300. You will have to pull a few things apart to include the glove box, center console and the touch screen head unit and drill some holes. The instructions are pretty good in the kit. It still requires a trip to a Jag dealer to perform the IDS update on the head unit and they charge for the privilege.

If your glove box doesn't have the dampening spring working, you can fix that while you have it apart as well. There was a service bulletin about repairing that and only took a few minutes.

I'm all hooked up and enjoy Pandora in the car. Its nice having the cig lighter in the glove box for charging too.

What phone cradles do people use that work well and look nice?

Any other good streaming music services to try?

I use last.fm in addition to Pandora. They have a decent community side to the service as well.

@LP30 - Just got a 2008 XKR portfolio with B&W stereo and would like to install aux input as you describe. Can you direct me to the part you used? Still working well?

Thanks for the assistance!
