Default Bent and cracked rim

This morning I had a low pressure warning right front tire.
So I stopped at the gas station to check pressure and inflate since it was only around 28psi. The compressor wasn't inflating the tire probably because the of frozen water in the airline. So I went to the tire shop I normally use. I have had a very slight vibration above 80mph and I mean very slight so I asked them to balance all four wheels.
Any way they get the leaking tire up for balance, the rim is bent at least 1/4" out of round and cracked hence the slow leak.
I was amazed how bent the rim was and how very slight the the vibration was.
So now waiting on a new rim $992 from Jag the tire shop found me a new one for $792 fitted.

I think I bent this, when they put the new tires on in December it wast cracked or bent. so think this is down to me and Michigan's shitty roads and winter potholes, But its still not as bad as detroit, a few years ago I had to stop completely and change lanes to avoid a pot hole approx 3 feet across and I guess a foot deep my poor old Porsche wouldn't have come out the other side lol

That's not a pothole, it's a water feature...

Damn, I hope your problems are over. You need some good things to come your way.

I drove my xk a couple of times this winter when there was no snow on the road. The problem was that there was ice on the side of the road and in car wheel wells, I was driving along and it felt like I hit a pot hole, which surprised me because it was a major road that is usually very well maintained. Suddenly I lost all the air in one of the tires. I replaced the tires, it was -20 centigrade, which wasn't fun to do with frozen fingers so I left that car running and I was going in the car warming up every few minutes, anyway, I got it done, went to the tire place and it turns out the rim is bent. So I concluded that what I drove over wasn't a pot hole, it was a chunk of ice likely fell from someone's wheel well. I didn't want to spend $1000 on a new rim so looked around and it tunes out you can repair rims. $140 later I am back on the road and the car has been on this tire and rim for about 3 months with no issues.

Point I am trying to make is you may want to consider taking the old rim for repair instead of buying a new one.

+1 For wheel repair.

I had replaced my factory wheels on my Lexus with some nice Italian wheels shortly after buying it. A couple of years later I hit not one, but two pot holes with the same wheel (the second one was as I was limping home after hitting the first). This wheel was now way out of round.
I couldn't replace the wheel, as it was no longer available, so I took it to two places that claimed to straighten wheels, but they wouldn't touch it, but the I found a third, and they did a fantastic job, and yes, I think it only cost around $140, as mentioned above.
That was more than 10 years ago, and the wheel still runs fine.

Those Senta wheels (20") are very expensive. I had a slow leak and had it repaired and haven't had any issues since then. The low profile wheels are very sensitive and far too delicate.

I have an XJ also. It has 18" rims and can run over potholes all day long without tire damage or worry....just shakes my teeth.

Potholes seem to pop up instantaneously and seem to be in the worst places possible. I just keep the XK in the garage for most of the winter and when I'm sorely tempted to take it out, I only take it out during the day and keep a sharp eye peeled for potholes and other dangerous obstacles.

Out of round are easy to repair believe it or not; I watched my wheel guy just bend them back with hydraulic device! you should not watch; the al. is very soft and malleable, quite frightening to watch, but it works OK.

Cheers, Adrian

I had two front Cremona rims re-shaped and a rear with a crack fixed for $600. This was last summer. All is well thus far. These low profile wheels do not like sudden jolts, nor, do the tires.
Between the crack and the bruises we sure do put up with a lot of financial abuse cause we just love these darn Jags.....
Happy Motoring

I will probably have the old wheel repaired and keep as a spare, I've never had to true a wheel but have had tool shops try on tooling a number of times and have never been happy with the results.

Welcome to my world of bent Senta wheels, repairs and new wheels. I would only get it repaired if I had no other choice. I repaired a crack one and it only last a few years and cracked on both sides of repair. Then hunted for a couple months for a new one. They are getting harder to come by and anything less than 1k for a new one is a good price. All these wheel houses will tell you that they have repaired ones but when they check, they're out of stock. I now have another front one bent since having new tyres installed so I'm still undecided about replacing it.

Finally got a new fitted today $725. I'm going to try and get the old one repaired as a spare. Aluminium is tricky to weld and small cracks will spread over time.

Pity I live so far away from some of you members, i Have a set of sentas i put up for sale and am getting no takers, £400 or €550 or $590 for the 4 rims. As you can read from the add, One was fixed (front Crack) and just curb rash refurbished on them all, other wise they are OK. Even at these prices for 3 it's still a good deal.

powerhouse,

If they were on this side of the pond, I'd ****** them up!
You might get more interest in them if your ad was titled as a 'For Sale' instead of a 'Want To Buy' ad.

Just sayin'

Smile I have a great deal for you!

I have a set of Lexani wheels from my 2010 XKRS. Three are perfect. One has a very slight rash on the edge as shown in picture. It is hardly noticeable when they are mounted. I will sell the set for $1,200. I will ship for free. Call or text me with questions. 252-675-8115.

The one wheel with a slight blemish on the edge.

What are the size(s) and offset(s) of these wheels?
