Ha, me also!

I am 70% in the home office. The other 30% is traveling and meeting with clients so I am spiffed up then. Workout shorts are my norm, workers at the grocery store must think I am unemployed. When I get my haircut (during the day of course) I commonly get the "are you off today" question.

"Office"? "Meeting"? "Clients"? What is all this stuff of which you speak?
I've been retired for over ten years now and I'm barely into my fifties.

I thought at home and working was great. That is even better, at home and not working.

Yea and I recall the teleconferences with England and France and Germany and Japan and Twain . You can guess what time they usually called them at. Then there was dial up internet access , do you remember that. So it's nice to be retired but the down side is you are now in the red zone of life. So enjoy it when you can.

I just spit coffee all over my iMac screen. So true. Add in the 'growing it for charity' long hair and not even the cookie pushing girl scouts darken the front door these days. It's glorious.

I am in the absolute prime of my life, with a need to impress myself, and only the incomparable XKR will do.

I dont need something bombastic, ostentatious and Italian to define me I am not that loud nor need things defining me.

Dont want the sterile and clinical Germanic approach to passion- its a ridiculous contradiction. I am not that easily fooled and refuse to be part of a larger herd.

Even a Bentley or a Rolls would feel like buying a car to please others. I have comparable appointments, authority and grace in the powertrain, sans the oft embarrassing pretension.

The Aston Martin would fail to impress me in the value for money dept and luxury.

I always have a hankering for the Mercedes SL550 hardtop convertible (MY2013+). It's more posh, not that common, and goes faster 0-60 than XKR. Given the steep depreciation, it's arguably even better value for money & luxury.

Since you havent purchased it yet....
Its a hideous Wildebeest of the car world. Its as if it was designed by committee...that wasnt in communication with each other. It has no flow, not unlike a Wildebeest.

More posh than your Jaguar-not in my opinion.
Faster 0-60 times- another Germanic invention. Ever seen a road that goes from 0-60 or 60-0...it doesnt exist. 50-70mph is everywhere- entering the freeway, overtaking an old lady. XKR does it in 1.9 secs. SL550 3.0 secs- that's nearly twice as slow.

I suspect its because you want a manual transmission.

in my situation, a manual would preclude it from being driven during rush hour traffic.

Also I want to celebrate the unique disposition and coming of age of certain British cars that have surpassed the reliability of German cars and in one way are more opulent owing to being perfect all-rounders. Even the gas mileage.

Note the known issues on the Merc engine in the video. If it were a Jaguar, we would never hear the end of it.

There is one good reason to own an AM. Its practically invisible to the untrained eye.
You will love this video.

It's simple to me that no one sees the AM. It is it's lack of color. Silver , gray , white and black cars are so common people don't take a second look so they don't care what they are. Try it with a color and I bet you would get a different response.

Yes, dying for a manual again... That and there's just that elegance and engineering to the Aston which is so cool... But a part of me would like a Rapide as I just can't get over how hot they look. Rapide would allow my girlfriend to drive it, but I wonder if I'll get bored driving an automatic???

Most likely will be a late model Vantage in a manual. Needs to be the right color combo regardless of which model.

I'll still have the XE for 2.5 years as it is leased. It'll become my girlfriend's primary car when her Volvo S60 lease ends.

We have a tendency to remember the former marriages by the honeymoon night. In many cities nowadays the misery of owning a manual transmission outweighs the joys. Between the growing traffic, folks on a cell phone and growing Prius type cars, it can feel like driving an 18wheeler.

I haven't gotten to finish reading the thread, but I echo the "riveria" thoughts.

It was my immediate thought on seeing the pictures, a perfect color set for the Mediterranean coast.

Now in my part of the Carolinas? Eh, I'll take something else.
