To Bloody hot. Air not working
I have just taken my 2008 XKR out on its first run after winter storage . Started with no problems no codes showing , but the air cond is not coming on out on the rd. outside temp 91.f still no codes showing, went into search , nothing . Any ideas . Thanks
Sometimes, depending on lots of factors, gunk and leaves and trash can block up the condenser and keep air from cooling it down. Most times it also affects the radiator's cooling ability, but we all know about that stupid missing gauge.
A generic code reader will not show climate control faults. There are about 40 Jag specific fault codes associated with the climate control that will require a reader that will read codes from more than the ECU. I assume the SDD will read them but don't know for sure as I don't have an SDD, yet. Can someone with an SDD confirm?
I would start by getting someone to put a set of gauges on the compressor and see if there is refrigerant in the system or not. It is not surprising to have a 10 year old car loose its charge. If low charge is the problem a shop will want to find and repair the leak before charging it. There are laws to that effect in the US. I don't know about Canada.
If you are so inclined, you can get a set of gauges for less than $50 and check this yourself and charge it if needed. DON'T blindly charge it without monitoring the pressures. A new charge may last another 10 years, or not.

If it's low on refrigerant, find the leak. The system should be air tight and should not leak refrigerant. If it does, a simple recharge is just a patch and your still leaking.
Let us know what you find please.
There is a small solenoid that actuates an internal vane in the compresor. I cannot hear anything happening when the compressor cycles on and off.
Mine was as simple Schrader valve leaking on low pressure side.I refilled it myself with a canister type refill.l know people say not to do this, but mine now works great.Tommy.

Whoops, sorry, wrong car. XK compressor is permanently engaged. Thanks for calling it out Dave.
Thanks to the guys who replied. Yes the airflow is working fine ,cant hear any switches kick in . the condenser is clear of garbage, has not been recharged ever. only 15k miles, forgot to mention car has not been driven for last 18 months just started now & then , I will have to take it in and get it done.

Given that you're just pulling her out of storage, the shop will probably dye check for leaks and hopefully all you need are a seal or two and a recharge.
Sean is spot on. You cant ever go over a year without using ac.
I believe it says so in the owners manual to periodically turn ac on. And it specifically mentions seals, come to think of it.

Did you get this fixed? Having owned my '07 XK for 3 months I tried the a/c last month but found it wouldn't blow cold. Despite the fact it has a full Jaguar history, there's no evidence it has ever had a recharge - in a decade.
So I booked it into a local garage who have the necessary a/c equipment. Whilst I waited, they identified there was no refrigerant in it at all - all leaked out over the years. They could see no obvious defects, so proceeded with a recharge and leak test, which was satisfactory - it's now blowing cold, as it should.
A relatively cheap solution, completed in about 90 minutes.

I was told there is some sensor in the compressor that starts acting funny, and as a result the temp goes up and down. The sensor has been listed by Jaguar as the problem. It costs about $140 for the part, and probably about $400 labor at the indie shop here.
The picture Cee Jay posted is what we see in your signature. You may still see the original photo because it is cached on your computer.
How do I get this photo bucket off and my original photo back on .Bernie
Find another place to store and host your pictures on the Internet I guess or pay PhotoBucket $399 per year.
