Bluetooth Module - Swap Old from 2007 for New from 2012
After much investigation of potential battery issues and having the battery replaced under warranty, I determined that the bluetooth module was defective.
The 1st photo is the screen the defective unit gave me with nothing happening when the YES button is pushed. The module that was defective was # 6W83-10D893-AF.
Removing the three connectors is simple once you know the tricks. The 2d and 3d photos are the large gray connector showing the unlock lever closed and than open. The middle connector for the fiber optics was easy - just press the unlock tab on the side. The yellow connector was difficult until I was able to remove the unit and see the part that needs to be pressed. It is the 4th photo.
The replacement module was from a 2012 # 9W83-10F845-AA and is shown in the 5th photo.
The screen for the new module is the 6th photo and like others it now has a battery indicator and a signal strength indicator. I am using and Iphone 5.

Guess I'll look into getting a newer module in my '07, as I've avoided updating the software on my iPhone 5s, after reading about troubles that others have had. I'm still sitting on iOS 7.1.2, and the phone connects and works fine (I don't try to download contacts, as I've got so many that I have no interest in calling).

I don't doubt it but it's strange I had no issues with my phone and 05 SV8 but the 07 XK doesn't pair. Also thanks for the tip on eBay. I'll watch and wait.

Same for me. '08 and iPhone 6+. It pairs just fine for phone calls, but nothing else.
I did buy one of those inexpensive Bluetooth adapters that forces you to use an empty FM radio station. It does indeed play music, but the sound quality mirrors the general radio sound quality, which is abysmal to my ears.
I guess I'll stick to CD's for road tunes as I haven't, nor do I intend to, installed the ACM adapter.

Since replacing it, I've had the battery meter and signal strength but not the phone book. I use an iPhone 5. One day, I was able to get into the phone book section but there were no entries. I've tried an iphone 6 and one android with no luck. It's now become one of the Jaguar quirks I live with.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 5, so I hope it will work. I just have to find a 2012 or newer unit used somewhere. Found a new one for $1000 at a dealer. I don't need to see my phone book THAT bad however....

I just bought a 9W83-10F845-AA off eBay for $300. Took about 90 minutes to swap (mostly due to my fat fingers having issues getting to bolts). Seems to have resolved the no response I was getting from my original 6W83-10D893-AE.
Using my iPhone7, no phonebook or battery meter, but I do get signal strength. Most importantly, I can answer an incoming call now.
