Default Boot (trunk) space?

My XK has a space saver spare wheel - I know that the spare was an additional option when buying from new - which implies that they might supply the XK without the wheel and probably a can of that puncture glue stuff instead.

Q: Do these model XKs have more boot (trunk) space? If so - can you convert between the two? I.e. remove the hatch that covers the spare and get something to make it all look pretty?

If our space saver spare(I have one too) is not the same diameter as your regular tires don't see how it will work with the ABS or Traction Control!
Changed a flat on my wifes XK8 with a spare full size with better tread and car went ape; ABS on and off, Tract control warning and then limp home mode!
Anyone tried the space saver spare? and what results?

Cheers, Adrian

I have used the space saver spare more than once and had no problems whatsoever with the computer nannies. My 2007 XK has the staggered 20" Senta wheels.

There is an accessory you remove the tire, cover with this mats and makes the trunk bigger

And there is a liner than goes down instead of the spare, but why? You can fit a set of clubs in there. And i have a customer that made of a rear seat cover that clips into the back seat area quickly. He and his wife took both sets of clubs, and 2 large soft suitcases with them across country to cali. They even stopped in mina galleries and now mina wants to carry his rear seat cover so call them about it.

XKRs equipped with the optional Alcon brake package do not have a spare tire, since it will not clear the 6-piston front caliper. Instead, they are fitted with a 12v tire pump and sealant, and the tire well is finished out nicely with a molded carpet liner. As a result, the useable trunk space is substantially increased.

I got this option in my XKR. Spare tire is removed and the space is nicely finished with a matching carpet going down. Ill make some photos of that next time.

iirc you can fit a black wheel space saver from the XJ X351. But it is NOT the front caliper that gives the issue but the rear due to offset. But a cheap spacer will fix that if you need to fit to rear
