Default 2007 XKR headlight modification

Hi,

I have a 2007 XKR, but hate the orange reflectors in the headlight units. Does anyone know if there is a way to either open the units and remove them, or purchase a different unit?

I don't want to go the whole hog and do the 2010 facelift, but there must be a way to make the older style lights look better.

I stumbled across an ebay listing for a bodykit, but the lights on the demo car seem to be just what I'm after:

Thanks in advance

hi, my 2007 has the same, think you'll have to seperate the lens, there is a thread on painting the chrome part inside of the lights by Muddydog , it tells how to seperate the lens. That car and body kit in picture looks clean and the wheels fill the arches, nice. Have u any pictures of yur 07, if u wud like to view mine ,feedback wellcome, its under thread 'finally got pictures of my 1 month old xkr'

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i just came across the other thread, so will be trying that this weekend. The orange reflectors really spoil the look of the headlights.

My car is pretty standard - I've just ordered a Milltek exhaust for it, so looking forward to hearing it roar a little bit more

Chris at Mina Galleries has crafted a small piece of metal (probably aluminum) that is designed to make 2007-2011 headlights appear more like 2012+. It would be glued to the lens and painted the same color as the body so that it appears as if the body wraps around the bottom of the headlight. The net effect is that the orange reflector is covered by this piece and the headlamp is sleeker and appears more like the 2012+ models. You might want to call him.

Hey black kat. You could try playing with some gloss black wrap. I didn't like the orange and preferred the shape of the new lights. I couldn't get a match on silver wrap, but have done this which I am pretty happy with. Would look better on a black car, and costs next to nothing. Also fully reversible in minutes.

The wrap looks decent. I assume that the amber does not show through when lights are on. Just concerned with overzealous cops….

There is a thread on the forum about adding LED daytime running lights to the pre 2012 headlights. The member did a good job. I'm not sure what he did with the amber reflector. However, he separated the lens cover from the headlight. With the cover off one should be able to replace the reflector with a clear reflector. I thought about doing this when I had my 175.

That's right, the amber doesnt show through the wrap. That was only a mock up for me because it takes a lot of fiddling around to get the right angles and shape - I tried a half dozen times before I got it the way I like it. I also tried it in cf wrap (fail) and with some silver to contour the shape (fail).
