Brake lamp failure

I found my '07 (US) very temperamental on bulb quality. Tried to save a penny, to discover repeated failures.
Sorry to say I cant recall the brand (this was 5 years ago) but my fix was stepping up to something from Sylvania or perhaps Philips. I recall being fascinated to see two technically functional bulbs, yet one fail but not the other. I repeated the discovery several times in dismay.
Anyhow, this my not be your issue, but i though id toss it out there from my past single experience.
BOL,
Vince

Being a US '06 I am not sure if you have an XK100 or XK150.
First check the resistance of the "bad" bulbs to make SURE it is a bulb problem.
I had two XK100's with similar problems. It was NOT the bulbs. It was the contact in the socket. Try cleaning the contacts if the bulbs are good. As I remember I could never get the rear tail light on my '97 coupe to work 100% of the time so I replaced the whole tail light assembly to finally fix it. They are pretty cheap on ebay.

Brit '06 is US '07. I changed a bunch of bulbs on mine. Went with the higher watt marker lamps. Did all of them at once as it's a PITA to pop the lamp housing out. A small dab is grease helps keep the terminals from corroding and as said above, pony up for the higher grade bulbs if you can.
