Brake Light warning wont clear
I currently had a passenger brake light indicator warning and I replaced the bulb. I currently have all the brake lights working fine, but the warning indicator will not clear, I have fiddled and replaced with another bulb, but the indicator remains..Do I have to replace the drivers side bulb as well or is there a reset that will clear this...Of course My warranty just ended last month...
any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Thanks Britannia can you point me to where I can get a code reader?? and does the code reader allow you to reset as well??? is there a reset procedure that will allow me to clear all codes without the reader ?? just curious..

That's weird. I didn't need a code reader to clear the brake light warning on mine. Mine cleared immediately when I installed a new bulb. The bulbs I originally bought at NAPA were some cheap generic ones that would blow within a few weeks or so. The parts guy eventually found some other bulbs that cost a few cents more and those have worked perfectly for the past year.
When you swapped the bulb out with a different one, was it the same brand/model bulb? Just wondering if you got some crappy bulbs like I did

I just went to Pep boys and bought a package that look similar ..maybe your right and the crappy bulbs are the problem..I have the original bulb, so I will take it and ensure I do get a better bulb..

I had similar... Brake light warning... Replaced bulb and the warning remained....
Fiddled with it a bit, including swapping bulbs from left to right sides. Still got the error regardless.
After swapping out to a different brand it mysteriously went away...
I was flustered enough to just be glad I was done with it, and never troubleshot further....

I think you guys on spot on...I always assumed that when you put new bulbs the warning code would disappear..I think maybe the cheapo bulbs are the issue..I will post an update when i find some Bosh or reputable bulbs..

So after reviewing the post, I went to the auto parts store and had them look up the correct bulb, the better ones they had in stock were Sylvania. I put them in and the the warning light disappeared.. It shows that you really cant use cheap parts on a XK... Thanks for all the help, and use the correct bulbs for your jag if you dont want the headache..
thanks again
