Default Brake pressure bleeder recommendation

Looking to flush the brake system on my 2012 XK. Just wondering which one would fit my car. Looked at Schwaben pressure bleeder but it doesn't say that it fits Jaguar. Thanks

Harbor Freight offers a couple of hand or air operated vacuum pumps in the $25 to $50 range. I just flushed mine using the hand operated one and it worked perfectly.

What are the downsides of doing it via this method?

I know there are downsides to all three methods, why is this method not the only method?

You can also fit 'speed bleeders' to each caliper in place of the original bleed screws so replacing the brake fluid is a quick, one person operation.

I rigged up a true pressure bleeder on my "05 XJR" using my air compressor and a modified brake fluid reservoir fill cap. It did not work out very as the reservoir was not air tight. Don't ask if it was just that particular reservoir or Jag reservoirs in general because I don't know.

I will tell you that I had a bitch of a time bleeding the brake system on my 07 XK. The trick is to be sure that when you finish the rear and move to the front make it a point to go to the front wheel diagonal to the last wheel bled in the rear. Only then was I able to get a good and proper bleed of the system using my vacuum bleeder kit. Something to do with the dual diagnoal brake systems of modern cars I'm told.

See here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...10-xks-117924/

Also, I successfully - by myself - used speed bleeders on my 2010XK; piece of cake: I previously had called the company, and they indicated SB1010s for the front 2010 XK, or the version in stainless steel, but guessed at the rears. For 2009, the SB1010s are the size. Based on the above link, SB1010s are good for the 2010. all around.

Update: Based on me doing the bleeding of my XK 2010 brakes, the SB1010s are the correct size all around.

That looks to be a bad link.

Thanks for the speed bleeder info guys!

I've used the speed bleeders on my old Ferrari and they worked great . It takes a little longer and having to pull a 4 wheels took a little time but it worked out great. Granted a pressure bleeder would be the better way to go when doing a flush but the bleeders method worked. I would also use a different color brake fluid so I would know when the flush was complete.

For the non-Alcon X150 calipers, I have used SB8125L (M8 X 1.25) in front and SB1010S (M10 X 1.0) for the rear.

I flushed mine a couple weeks ago using a Harbor Freight compressed air bleeder and it was a total snap. I didn't even have to lift her up to get it done. I had tried the hand vacuum from them but found it more of a hassel and the bottle too small.

It came with a resevoir adapter but I opted instead to just to remove most of the old fluid then keep it full of fresh juice in the process. I was careful to make sure the fill cap area was clean plus not getting anything on paint.

Default Speedbleeders

I've been using SpeedBleeders on all my cars for nearly a decade now. They even work on hydraulic clutch systems. Simple, easy and inexpensive.

Appreciate all the input but not really interested in speedbleeders. I have had them on other cars but was looking at trying out the pressure bleed option. Just not able to confirm weather their caps will
fit the Jag master cylinder. CEEJAY I assume that the one you purchased from Amazon fit your 2010 XKR so should fit my 2012 XK. Thanks again for all the input.

I didn't use the resevoir auto filler so I don't really know if it fit or not.

If you have one of these, fresh fluid could be pulled up through the calipers. They say air travels easier upwards.
