Default Burl Walnut Shift Knob- beautiful workmanship

Just installed my burl walnut shift knob from www.britishautowood.com

All I can say is 'wow'...this shift knob looks fabulous and feels silky smooth. Top notch craftsmanship. It took about 30 seconds to install [simply unscrew old knob, screw on new knob. Perfect fit]

I wish he made a video of how he does it. I would love to see that.

Thanks, love it and detail is exquisite. A bit wasted on an automatic gearbox, i love manuals and working up and down the gears, paddles are too easy, but nice to look at.

Yep I do love manuals too, which is why I keep my Porsche 924S as my other car.

I remember the last several years I had with my Ferrari 308 5 sp . I would start leaving the gearbox in 5th much later and accelerate slowly so as to preserve the clutch. I was getting lazy shifting and the little 240HP 3L engine didn't have the needed torque to pull at low speeds in 5th. I enjoyed going through the Fcar tune up with 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd upt to 8K rpm but after a while it became less fun on our weekend cruises. Mind you I don't think there was as unique of a exhaust note but the fuel smell from the 4 webers was not a favorite of my bride. So after having manual transmissions for over 55 years there isn't one in my present set of vehicles.

The only fault with my xkr when driving is when i want to give a few exhaust bursts if in low traffic, it has to go into neutral and coast a bit or stop, that's where the manual is great, you can stay in a low gear or engage the clutch pedal and power up and down.

Back to the gear knobs and found this one in piano black, nice to match a front grill badge and black interior.

Here's my knob from British Autowood. I'm very happy with the look and the quality!
