buy Usa XK or XKR 2010 to import in Canada
Hi everyone,
I am planning to buy a 2010 XK or XKR in January 2014. I may buy it from USA.
I have in the past already bought a BMW 750LI from ebay and had imported it in Canada, so i am familiar with the process. However i know that every manufacturer decide what need to be done in order to release the compliant paper.
Is anybody had pass throught that process for an XK(R) 2010?
How much for the modification $ (labour material)
If i buy a certified model, do you think a may have any luck to buy an extended canada warranty directly from Jaguar Canada?
Or do you know if JAG USA WILL LET me get an extended warranty and honored it?
Do you think a should have a third party inspect a certified model or if i can buy it with close eyes?
And final question, reliability...for the last 2 years my planned was to go for an SL550...however i falled in love with the XK....we are going to use that car to cross Canada from Qc to Bc and then to Vegas and slowly return from colorado, utah, yellowstone...for 18000km trip. Should i worry to do that kind of trip and being stuck in middle of no where because they dont have the piece to fix that car?
My head telling me SL550 but my heart XKR. when i close my eyes and think about my car to do that dream trip...i see an XKR. We have tried a 2007 XK. and a 2009 SL550. We love both car, however i had more a feeling of a supercar in the SL.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Dominic

I'd prefer to buy a 4 year old car locally so I could see and drive, even if it cost a bit more than importing one. Easier to sell later as well.
Good luck!
