Default Can TPMS actual tire pressure be read via OBD2

I’d like the ability to read the TPMS tire pressure in real time. The implementation on my ‘15 XKR only triggers a warning when tire pressure reaches a preset low pressure. I’d like some method of being able to periodically display the actual tire temperature. I’ve recently had OEM TPMS sensors installed. And apparently they are idle until some amount of tire rotation, which prevents walking up to the tires with my TPMS tool and reading the pressure. Sure, I can drive down the street, stop the car, get out and use the tool to read the values, but that would be a PITA.

To me, the perfect solution would be an OBD2 scanner, that connects via Bluetooth to my iPhone, and an app displays selected functions…such as tire temperature. I’ve found tools that work that way, but not that display tire pressure. This of course would depend upon actual tire pressure being sent out on the Can Bus. Oh yeah, I know this would only work after the TPMS sensors have rotated for a while.

So, has anyone found anything that works as described above?

That is a good question and if it did work, a great idea.

Dear XKDreams,
probably similar to most who got an OBD reader plus app I got this for voltage and coolant temperature information.
I was pleased to see that you can choose from multiple pre set sensors depending on the app. This will also include things not applicable despite choosing vehicle on set up (like turbo boost etc).
For temperature I find a few that are useful but have not seen any tire related sensors.
Would have to look again as I might have missed in the long list but can only do so whilst connected to the vehicle.
You can see a screenshot of the inputs I have selected.

I use the OBD Link MX + tool but as you can see I prefer the Car scanner App to the OBD tool app. I think it was either CEEjay or Stuart who recommended the car scanner app

@RemyFrank thank you for the reply, I was hoping to find a device that would support displaying tire pressure.

I grew frustrated with all of the false tpms warnings and decided to deactivate it. I’ve replaced the oem system with TPMS BLE 5.0 external sensors that connect with the iTpms app in the Apple App Store. Sensors were about $30 on eBay and the app is $6.75. There’s a free app but iTPMS works with CarPlay and I’m using Mr12Volt.

can you fill the tire and then just reinstall the sensor if it needs more air or do you need to reset some settings after doing so each time?

I’ve been testing it today…took the sensors off to adjust pressure up or down, reinstall sensors and they automatically reconnect. Let it sit for a few hours and rebooted my iPhone…started the car, opened the app in CarPlay and it took about 3-4 minutes to reconnect and show pressure and temperature…the app screen on my phone also shows battery life…
