Car Battery Dead Now Won't Recognize Smart Key
The interface is the one that you will need to make a decision for, based on budget:
Cheap Option : Mongoose JLR Clone cable for around $50 which I've heard some people complaining how the new generation is lower quality compared to the previous one.
More expensive option: Any decent J2534 interface from a known brand for example, Autel Maxivci V200 for around $200. This is a better interface that I've personally used to do everything with SDD, from simple Diagnostics to Module Flashing & Programming. On top of that being J2534 it is compatible with a lot of OE Software.
Don't worry about the software until you have the interface.

hmmm… I hope we are not suggesting an exercise with sdd, to someone who hasn’t used it before… to reprogram the binding of the fob to the car.
Like nothing is going to go wrong here…
As mentioned by someone earlier, the fob is fine as it works in the dock. It is the remote aspect this is amiss.
Humor us, purchase a new fob at the dealer. The price includes the binding. If it cant be paired with the car, they will take it back. If it can, your fob’s remote capability is done.
My .02 worth.

The car has 2 key systems combined: "Passive" Your key is inside your pocket and the system reads it and authorize it via the KVM & it's several antennas inside and around the car (this requires the electronics on your remote to be active by a good battery)
"Active" A backup system in case the key cannot be read wireless due to a dead battery inside the remote, issues with the KVM Module and the antennas or interference, you put your key in the slot and the transponder inside the key is energized, read and authorized by the starter control unit & instrument cluster (this does not requires the electronics inside the remote working as the transponder receives power when inserted in the slot)
