Default Car cover

I'm sure this has been brought up, but I'm using search feature and I'm not seeing much. I'm Stateside and would like to order a car cover for outside. I want very soft underside, breathability and uv protection. I live right next to the ocean, so come winter, I'll bring her inside my single car garage. Looking for some feedback from you all, thanks!

Covers create more problems than they solve. They micro-abrase the paint due to dust and motion, and they retain moisture below and beneath the car.
Best to give the car the best protective paint coating you can and then get a good windscreen shield to protect the inside, along with tinted side and back windows.

Agreed....In addition, if you live near the ocean, the moisture retained under the cover will accelerate any rust to commence. Polish and protect with a windscreen. Regular washing including undercarriage, to remove any salt residue would be helpful. Good luck.

I agree with the comments above. I've never known anyone who had a good experience with a car cover. It's impossible to keep abrasive dirt off of the "soft" underside. They end up causing scratches to the paint.

If you don't have a garage to park in, and you're looking to store the car long term, then a cover might make sense. But if you just want to cover the car at night and you're going to be taking the cover on and off regularly, you're going to do more damage than good.

To protect your car from accelerated decay, keep it out of the elements as much as possible. When you’re not driving it, store the car in your garage.

Remove salt and shield the paint by washing and waxing your car at least every month. Make sure you scrub the undercarriage too, especially where the metal components of the wheels and exhaust system are exposed. If ocean water or sand splash up on your car, wash it off immediately. Make sure you use soap, because a basic rinse won’t be enough to remove all the salt adhering to your vehicle.

The only car cover of value imo is an indoor cover for use during storage. 1 layer, baggy, not tight fitting. That will keep the dust from settling on the garaged car over the winter. I would never use and exterior car cover for all the reasons already mentioned. Is there a reason you can't use the garage year round?
