Closing this out as I have a solution that I like. I pulled the pins from the console so the latch is now useless— thus it can never stay close. We then put a cabinet magnet catch in to keep it down.
Thanks once I saw latches were on side boom popped it right open. For now just put velcro over the holes where the latches close will figure it out later..
