I may try that on mine. I just wish I had something I could use to make my black shift plate look better. It's peeling up everywhere. I would wrap it but then you couldn't see what gear you're in. Not like I wouldn't know but it would look weird I believe.

 

Might look kinda 'stealth' without the gear indicators showing? Thing is, wrap is real cheap and you can try it and see. If you don't like it, warm it up and it peels right off.
