Default Chrome reclining seat lever is broken-on 2007 Jaguar xk

Hey everybody -

I am busy this weekend fixing little annoyances on my 2007 xk. I just found out that my passenger seat, chrome reclining lever [near the headrest] is snapped off. The mechanism still works though. I found this link for the part: https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...-RECLINE-LEVER

Question: Is this an easy swap out? Or am i looking are tearing into the seat?

It is number 16 on the exploded diagram.

As always - your input is very much appreciated.

It's easy and just one screw. Mine broke and I've been meaning to replace it. I think the price is around $40USD

michaelodonnell123,

Did you order this part? My driver's side broke and I'm trying to order a replacement but they are listed as Right side and Left side. You posted a Right side part for passenger seat (US). Was this correct? I'm assuming I need a Left side...

thanks for the clarification

Yes you will need the left side [drivers side]. It took me about 10 minutes to install the new one.

Thanks!.... kind of obvious but figured I'd just make sure before I ordered it... Yep, I got the old one off already.

A little surprised it's plastic though. Would have thought any lever part would be metal....

My passenger side one was broken off, the mechanism worked but the latch part was broken and left in the glove box. I didn't buy a new one , got some quick drying silicone adhesive and put a bit on the latch , and on the mechanism but not the part that move, pushed on a left for a few hours, works perfect since, never know it was broken.

I glued mine with Gorilla gel glue and it seemed nice and strong but when I put the screw back in it broke off again. Got to try that quick drying silicone adhesive you speak of some day.....
