Chrome reclining seat lever is broken-on 2007 Jaguar xk
Hey everybody -
I am busy this weekend fixing little annoyances on my 2007 xk. I just found out that my passenger seat, chrome reclining lever [near the headrest] is snapped off. The mechanism still works though. I found this link for the part: https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...-RECLINE-LEVER
Question: Is this an easy swap out? Or am i looking are tearing into the seat?
Did you order this part? My driver's side broke and I'm trying to order a replacement but they are listed as Right side and Left side. You posted a Right side part for passenger seat (US). Was this correct? I'm assuming I need a Left side...
My passenger side one was broken off, the mechanism worked but the latch part was broken and left in the glove box. I didn't buy a new one , got some quick drying silicone adhesive and put a bit on the latch , and on the mechanism but not the part that move, pushed on a left for a few hours, works perfect since, never know it was broken.
Same came off mine, just do as i posted above and it will work fine
I glued mine with Gorilla gel glue and it seemed nice and strong but when I put the screw back in it broke off again. Got to try that quick drying silicone adhesive you speak of some day.....

Weird i didn't even need to use the screw, the silicone i used was similar to the stuff for sticking in windscreens its call tec7 here
Just wanted to post as I made the DIY fix for both levers that broke off. Removal was easy by pulling up lever base and removing Phillips screw. I found holding broken stub with needle nose pliers helped when removing screw.
I used JB Weld clear 5 minute epoxy and made sure not to get too much in hole so screw would not bottom out. Found that installing screw in stub just a bit helped to maneuver and hold stup in place while epoxy set up. Also reapplied more epoxy on the outside of the base of the stub to create more surface area adhesion and added strength.
My drivers side broke several years ago. I repaired as above but used the gray/metal filled epoxy. ( not quick set, regular).

Hope it is holding out. I've used the original green? to bond metal and had great results. I'll update after some use cycles. Jag will be going into winter storage soon, but I drive it every other week or so to keep things active. The seat backs do not get moved up too much as there are usually no back seat passengers... And certainly even less during winter.

In Texas my XK is driven 4-5 days a week, the seat back is always moved as I put my cane in the back seat area. So, several years of near daily usage. I'm satisfied.

I've just made a repair on mine similarly except the the female part was totally cracked and useless.
I used a a piece of 5MM ABS rod cut to length, drilled and treaded the screw in.
The first attempt to just glue it in with the same JBL product didn't hold to good.
I than made another except this time i used a thread die to cut threads (male) on the male end at the base.
After the initial bond I did a second coat from the base and up along the threads, which locked it in pretty good.
Also used a plastic welder with an external 90 staple on two sides to give it a little more strength.
That was a little tricky since the heated staple only takes a couple of seconds to melt in to the pieces and not to melt into the lever side too much.
Sort of just heat the staple till it glows red and release the trigger as soon as you make contact with the stud and the flat side underside of the lever.
So far good about 2 months and it typical is used every time we get out.
FWIW based on what I was able to fine they are discontinued State side
Have not been able to locate any used ones either.
There is a third party parts supplier in the UK, https://octoclassic.com/product/jagu...2p6559-c2p6558
but the the price ($82 USD) but shipping and insurance practically triples the original price for one.
Probably a bit more palatable if you get both sides but Ill wait for now.
