Default Cigarette lighter not working? Here’s an idea!

I noticed a lot of other people had the issue of the cigarette lighter plug not working. I don’t smoke, but I do like to have the usb charging port. So here’s what I did. Easy fix and upgrade!

Not for me as have one of cabrio bob's display's going in there.

I use the glovebox one for my flush fit dual fast charger and route the cable behind the hinges.

And dude you really need to take a vacuum to fhat ashtray area...it looks filthy

Am.assuming on yours the display advises of battery charge? Would be helpful if you said as opposed to keeping us guessing

+1, not for me, too. I need that socket to power the display unit for my wireless solar powered backup camera.

I knew someone would comment on the dirt lol. I can not argue this. I absolutely need to clean it.

my one in the glovebox also stopped working though. I tried to change the fuses and everything and couldn’t get power to either of them. I was getting ready to do a road trip so I figured I’d come up with a solution.

also note, if anyone else is having this issue there is also another option to add the regular cigarette lighter styled one rather than the usb one. Personally I just have no need for the cigarette lighter.

Yes, I’ll clean it this weekend haha. You could get these anywhere though. I got it from eBay. I just ran my own source of 12v to it because of course there wasn’t any power coming from the original plug.

15ma fuse in the engine bay (your driver side) gets the lighter socket working again, it just means you've tried to use it previously for something it's not intended for.

Not better for me. I have a full Touch Screen full of gauges so I don't need the ashtray version, although I admit it's pretty slick.

But for the majority it is.

Bob got boost and air intake 2 sorted today, it even has a brightness sensor that auto adjusts...does yours?

I have every gauge, every monitor, 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile, Horsepower, fuel trims, OBD faults, fuel level, miles to empty, IAT, IAT2, Boost, ..... oh hell, like 380 different parameters and such. All on large gauges. One swipe and there they are, in large, totally customizable color glory.
Does yours?

But does your dim and brighten dependant on the ambient lighting..which was my question? You didn't answer except with another question..

I have no desire for 1/4,/1/8th mile results as those days are long gone for me, also does your car not have a fuel level and miles to empty already...mine does?

I suspect Bob's €96/$114/£75 delivered solution may be a little more economic than yours...but please tell me if I'm wrong?

Am guessing yours is as easy to return to stock though, in my case it takes 15 seconds

1. But does your dim and brighten dependant (sic) on the ambient lighting? Just as much as every other TSD in any X150
2. also does your car not have a fuel level and miles to empty already? Yep, sure does. Although we were comparing the Cabrio Bob console thing, so totally moot point
3. I suspect Bob's €96/$114/£75 delivered solution may be a little more economic than yours...but please tell me if I'm wrong? Not wrong at all, I think it's a slick thing and quite handy and a very good design. What's your point? Yes, mine cost all-in probably about $300.00 plus a couple hours labor. Totally worth it.
4. You never answered MY question........ does Bob's have over 360 different parameters all within a swipe or two? (crickets)
5. Another one...... does it have full color - full sized gauges, totally customizable in type, color, shape, size and location?
6. Can it read, clear and diagnose CELs and DTCs?
7. Can it play YouTube? Stored media? Send and receive email and text? Play any of a billion games? Search for hotels, motels, fuel stations, food, groceries and roadside service?
8. How about full telemetry, stored and GPS logged with lap times and all that stuff?
Mine can.

Regardless of all that nonsense, all I said about Bob's really cool display is "I don't need it, although it is cool".
I didn't intend to get your panties in a twist, so I apologize that I inadvertently caused you strife.

Let's get back to Sublyminal's thread now, okay? It's very interesting.

I am going to check this if nothing else I could have the glove compartment one working as well. Although I would still rather have this usb mod for the ashtray one.

If I want to play games, play TV or browse t'internet I'd rather do that on my phone with the engine switched off.

And since I'm British, and it's a British car, I HAVE to be right, colonials get 2nd place SMSL

He doesn't make them anymore but you might reach out to him. I think this link has instructions but it has become a DIY:
