I eyed a couple DB11s over the last year. I very much like them and would be open to one but they're at the wrong spot on the depreciation curve for my liking. However the car I DO feel more inclined to trade for is a Ferrari California. Not ready to make this change yet but either that or the portofino look to be a good trade and will likely always retain a good resale.
If you've not already owned a Ferrari, you may not qualify to buy even a used one at a Ferrari dealership. Ferrari is VERY snobbish on who they sell vehicles to.
Playing devils advocate have you also considered the Bentley GT ?
Yes, but not seriously. Super luxurious I'm sure, but I can't image as fun to drive. Just seems like there would be exponentially more things to go wrong and maintain.

The Bentley, imho, is no serious alternative. Just far too ugly, a signal of social distinction speaking of 5th Avenue money but not style and old-fashioned (I know) moderation.

I thought i was the only 1 that noticed this about how ugly Bentleys are too.If you like the old fashion type of look and the super luxury a Bentley have, then it's the car for you.Even tho they have fast engines, they fail in the sporty looks department even tho they come in convertible. It's a nice sleeper car to have tho soon as a Hell Cat owner thinks a Bentley cost $200,000 msrp value for no reason and they find out the hard way lol

Not a DB11 but several times I seriously considered upgrading XKR to DB9 and kept passing. The DB9 certainly is a higher tier of special, but the XKR is just too good of a value comparatively with quite a bit of similarities. I chose to keep the XKR and get a Bentley Continental GT instead, which is a much different type of grand touring experience. Also have Maserati GT and CL63 AMG, I'm definitely a grand touring fan.

Ok, you, and a few others on this forum, should seriously consider listing your garages on VRBO, AirBnB or something, as some of the rest of us would like to come live in your garages for awhile.
I'd rather save the money and get a DB9 instead. It might not be the latest technology, but you can't beat that classic beauty (that the X150 also has ) in and out.
The latest Astons just don't float my boat: the DB11 is pretty but has lost this timeless perfection that was in the DB9's lines. But it could be worse: the latest V8 Vantage is godawful and nowhere near the beauty of its predecessor...

I agree that new V8 vantage is God awful looking. But the new DB11 it does look good in it's own way if you ever seen 1 in person. The thing looks like a pure exotic car and looks better than a 550 Maranello Ferrari. The DB11 did sort of step away from the traditional look of Aston Martins slightly, but they gave it a look that surpass any exotic car if other brands made theirs in a similar body style

they will sell used to anyone. It’s how you can get on the list for new. Also, a lot of the games have ended unless you want an 812. Californias and Portifinos are not moving well.

I never said it doesn't look good. It does. And I've seen one in person - actually it was at the Jag dealership where I have my baby serviced.
Like you said, indeed, it stepped away from the DB9's look...but given it was perfection, then it was a departure from perfection...and therefore a little less good looking...
But I really don't know what they had in mind when they drew the Vantage...both the exterior and interior are complete messes... Some people in their design department should be jailed for such a crime against good taste, seriously...

Amen to that! That is no lie there and I see all those flaws the vantage have in the looks about it with my eyes too

Naw, the DB9 looks old now. Not in a classic way either, but in a tired, BTDT, ragged-out sort of way.
Carealtor,
Like others I would tell you to go for it if you can afford it, otherwise the opportunity may not present itself again. HOWEVER, don't test drive a late model XKR either before you go drive the Aston or afterwards, you may kick yourself. and I dare you to find a 200,000 mile Aston that is still pleasureable or even able to drive like my 2010 XKR, still the best car I will have ever owned!
