Am I nuts? Seriously considering upgrading to a 2018 DB11 (hopefully CPO) V12 coupe. Currently have a 2012 XK. I don't think I've ever actually seen one in person and the nearest dealership for service is an hour and a half away. The AM dealership in Chicago (2000 miles away) always seems to have a bunch of them in inventory.
Somebody please either talk me down or confirm that it's a smart move.
They are nice but still have more to go on the depreciation curve (imo). Maintenance will be a lot more. Not sure how their CPO is but 90 minutes can get old. You only live once though…
As long as you have the money for it, do it! I'm about on the same track as you though, so I may be a bit biased.... either a DB11 or if I can stretch a CPO Vanquish Volante for me in the next few years or so! I'd be more inclined to keep the XKR though, as you'll never find this much car for the money. And seriously, the trade-in or private sale funds won't do a whole lot of good by itself.

If I could buy a brand new Jaguar Grand Tourer (ie, F-Type with more interior space and same small back seat), I'd be all over it. But right now, the DB11 is what is on the market. I can afford it, but that doesn't mean I'm comfortable paying what it would take.

i agree this is the only car that's an upgrade from an XK if you wanting a car with similar looks and more power.Nothing wrong with buying something you can afford. If you want it that bad, fulfill your hearts desire.Me personally,i might go for the McLaren 600 series cause i don't like the DRL's and headlights on the 720s lol.Be awesome if i could afford a McLaren p1.After what I seen 1 do to a bugatti,it gotta be the fastest car in the world

By way of comparison I'm selling my 2014 XK Dynamic R to a dealer next week with 61k miles on the clock.
I bought in 2018 on 48k miles for £32.5k (next cheapest was £44k) and simply don't believe I'm doing the mileage to justify it
Been offered £26k by Indy garage and consider £6.5k depreciation over 3,5yrs to be exceptional...that's just £155 a month and some great drives.
The new owner is going to get a gem!!
If you're buying yours as a keeper (as I was) then depreciation doesn't make a difference, but as new job is working with the homeless my mini SUV's probably the way to go
I eyed a couple DB11s over the last year. I very much like them and would be open to one but they're at the wrong spot on the depreciation curve for my liking. However the car I DO feel more inclined to trade for is a Ferrari California. Not ready to make this change yet but either that or the portofino look to be a good trade and will likely always retain a good resale.
