Yeah, think you have lost your mind, but to each their own.

Having owned both, the DB is 10 times better. I will take a v12 all day over an sc v8. The DB interiors are way better than jags, the the seats need a little more cushion for my old body.

The DB's are expensive to maintain, but that v12 sound and performance is worth it. Get the DB11, still kicking myself for selling mine.

Yeah, I guess they aren't THAT bad.... but compared to the newer ones, it is dated.

Kind of agree on the DB interiors being nicer however when it comes to the diamond stitch interiors of the Jag they win hands down.

I saw that one too. $121k is a great price, but the notations mention "lemon" and "previous accident". I told my wife a new one came up for $121k. She asked what color. I said red and she didn't think it would look good. Showed her the pics and she changed her mind. I've come to the conclusion that the black roof makes these cars look even better, regardless of the color.

Well, that's really a big part of my thought process. If not now, it won't ever happen.
I took the same approach with a Ferrari in 2020. No regrets at all. I loved the Ferrari and missed my XKR during that time, two very different cars, but I couldn't hold onto both. I sold the Ferrari late last year after nearly 2 years of ownership and I recouped all of my investment and then some. I had the same approach you did, that you only live once and to go for it. I bought another, newer XKR in November and I'm very happy to be back again, but I do miss the panache and experience of regular Ferrari ownership. I would say go for it, you never know until you experience it.

You don't have to sell me on a DB11; it's a fantastic car. I've driven the V12 and was more impressed than I thought I'd be. Engine sounds wicked and very nimble handling. I thought the turbos would ruin the Aston experience. I miss some of the fine details of the previous generation in the interior. Where did the magnet closures go? No counter clockwise tach. I love the leather tooling and stitching. The aero management around the car is a masterpiece of design. The front clamshell is something to behold when it opens. If the price difference between a Launch Edition DB11 and my car were closer, I'd probably be driving one now.

A friend from high school just bought a DB11 DBS Volante. He's like, "hey I just got an Aston Martin too..."

Ferrari California is a worthy option to consider. The transmission, engine sound, and braking are all wicked! The steering feel is not a good as Aston Martin and it lacks some of the fine details throughout that Aston does. Cali is a blast to drive and pretty reliable.

I like my 2005 DB9 as much as my 2011 XKR!

Ok, I’ll play.
So you’re asking proud XK owners for opinions on a V12 DB11??
I think it can only go two ways based on the criteria of those with the funds to have one, and those that don’t.

More cylinders win, every time. And that bespoke interior. And that timeless elegant grill, and …

And beyond all that, she’s just so uncommon. And that interests me the most.

Speaking of DBs, XKs, and rarity, here's a DB9 Mansory Edition gated 6 speed next to my XKR after a recent drive we did.

The DB9 looks old and tired next to the '12+ XKR.
Is that an old Maserati next to your XKR?

I don't think I'd qualify it as old and tired. I'm not a fan of the bottom chin aero that Mansory applied though - looks a bit Tokyo Drift compared to the perfect blend of grace and aggressiveness on the default cars. Agreed that the XKR looks more modern and sleek, I really like that.

The car next to it is a Ferrari 308 Dino.

Me too, but the downside is the equivalent uncommonality (is that a word?) of support/service. This makes me nervous, but I admit it's just a crutch to not pull the trigger.

This is the car I've been salivating over. 2018 DB11

Not so rare. Here's another DB9 with a Mansory body kit parked by my XKR.

Don't be ridiculous, of course they're rare. The XK line in the US has a production number of ~17K over the 8 years of production, including all variations. That makes them fairly rare. How many DB9s do you think were produced? Probably fewer than the XKs. How many are manual? Always a very small percent. And of those, how many are a a limited run like Mansory? It's got to be an exceptionally small number. I'm glad you got a shot next to one too, and that is very cool, but that just means we both saw something uncommon, not that these are somehow common cars 😉

Nice, but it's not a convertible!

I let my daughters 22 year old boyfriend drive my Aston Martin Virage and Jaguar XKR back to back. He thought the Aston was nice and luxurious but didn't want to give the keys to the Jag back!

That Mansory body kit isn't rare enough for my tastes. Just two are two too many.
