Default Correct tire pressures?

I was checking the tire pressures on my Xkr-s and it says 39 front/35 rear on the label on the driver's door. I have never heard of front tire pressures greater than rear, but then again I have never had a jag. Do these numbers sound correct or are they reversed?
Thanks

Perhaps because the engine/weight is in the front, the pressure is higher to compensate. Since it is an XK they know the odds are you will not have much weight in the back seat or the trunk.

Interesting. My 2000 XK8 lists 32 Front / 35 Rear. It's been an ongoing discussion in the X100 forum and most people there are closer to 32/32 for best wear. I'm not sure if there is a valid reason to run the front that high, but you could run at that spec and watch your tire wear pattern and then adjust accordingly.

That's some seriously high pressure numbers for stock!

Your front number sounds high. The weight in the front of the XKR-S may dictate a higher pressure, but I've never heard of 39PSI being a rated pressure. Especially considering the tire pressure will increase by as much as 8 to 10 PSI when they get hot...
