Also advised him on the map , saying if the new battery don't remove warning to go back to them , will update this thread of outcomes

IMPORTANT: New batteries are almost NEVER fully charged - and these cars need batteries that put out full voltage - so a new battery, before installation or immediately after, must be brought to full charge. If it is not ,the car may still show faults in various systems (and the real fault will be the under-cahrged new battery!).

My Cruise Control Not Available Amber warning light disappears a couple of seconds after start up, it doesn't stay on the screen. Does your friend's warning stay on permanently?

In the Xk8/XKR the brake light switch also controls the cruise. Are you sure your brake lights are working?

The code about the cruse not available stays away after running for a couple min's, when restarted, when my battery was bad.

Me thinks it is the tune he had done via the OBD port and not the ECU

I replaced my brake light switch a few years ago when I had no brake lights, even though my cruise was still working. Now I have the opposite problem: my brake lights work but my cruise does not. I haven't rushed to re-replace the switch as it is a PITA to do.

Well new battery arrived on Friday gave a reading of 12.5v so it was put on charge over weekend , took a reading of 14.2 before taking it of charger , Then we took out the old battery starting with negative and positive cables then removed all the floor matting boot spare wheel liner , And then the bar that goes across and battery clamp , got old battery out it read 12.3v its now on full charge and will be kept for a spare , Installed the new battery then did clamps etc , Then held both leads together for 30 secs, Took us over half an hour to remove and install so could say the ECU has had a hard reset then put on negative and positive leads , started car message on screen asked to put foot on brake and apply hand brake . Radio did not need resetting nor did windows all this took over half an hour , on starting car , Cruise not aviliable came back on , Switched car on and off 3 times still the same , Started car then I went with him for a run , car drove good no faults on screen , once home car ignition switched off , with door open ignition was then put on without starting car , warning light never came on , started car then it comes on as before for split second . Forgot to say I had removed a few fuses and replaced them before taking old battery out. Replaced fuse for Obd port, cruise control, brake fuse . Them fuses in passenger foot well are a PITA to get to . So out come is he will ither have to live with the tune or get them that put it on to remove it , new battery bought from Tanya batteries uk saving £42 , new battery is a Yuasa 5000 silver guaranteed for 5 year .

Forgot to add , I checked the fuses I removed and all looked ok but replaced them , only thing I can think of is now to replace the cruise module but have told Steve he would probably be better getting the car hooked up to the sdd software first

Resolved. By the look of it . Initially I had hooked up my icarsoft v2 to steves car , was picking up loads of codes inc , No comms to Ecu and more , cut long story , I replaced the battery in his car with a new one he had bought on my recommendation, but it would not reg to the Bms , But car drove good, The cruise not available message came up due to a bad map and the lost coms to Ecu , mostly due to a bad Indy garage he had used for servicing ,Seems they were not clearing codes and putting bugs on the car via their diagnostic s, a few days at a good auto electric dude fixed all, That was last week car has been good since
