Default Curious about alternator

Does anyone know if the late model 5.0L engines us an ADP (alternator decoupler pulley) type system on the alternator. Just wonder if Jaguar went to this type of pulley and if so which design are they using . Is it the OAD or the OAP type. Just curious.

There is a description of the belt system in here :

Not sure if it answers your question though.

Having just changed mine, the pulley has some sort of drag clutch internal to itself.

If you spin it then stop it quick, the armature does continue to move for a fraction more.

OK thanks so now it will be interesting to find out what type. There are 2 different types as I understand with one that is locked in one direction and free wheeling in the other direct and there is one that has a spring in it that dampens the free wheeling . If these fail the result could prevent the alternator from charging or it will put more load on your alternator bearings during overrun or shutdown.

It never locks in etheir direction so it must be the drag Spring type.

You can feel it slip when you rotate the armature in etheir direction.
