I hope this will help every member either now or down the road. I successfully made my cracked center speaker grille on the dashboard looking new, arguably even better than original. Im sure some of you might be driving around with a cracked grille because the price tag for a new one is almost $200 after shipping and tax. I noticed the front of my grille was completely cracked off about a 1/4”. I couldn’t retrieve the pieces because the speaker was removed when I installed a component set in the doors. Down they went, and during my removal I managed to do more damage in the form of a line crack about 2” long. I’m trying to illustrate how damaged it was, I haven’t posted in awhile so I started taking pics at the end of the project…my bad. Take your time with the removal and take your time with the install because the 2 screws that attach the sensor can be tricky. I super glued all the cracks (doesn’t need Enough cloth for all your speakers easily if you wanted to. My finished product before installation. My glue job. Sensor screwed in. Just line up the 4 tabs and gently apply even pressure and it will pop in nicely. You might like the cloth/leather look better than the plastic hopefully.
to be pretty). In my case I had to shape a new front. I found manila folder was stiff enough to keep the shape, and flat enough to not show bumps. I then got the $4 amazon speaker cloth, cut it, stretched it gently and glued it. After it dried I cut the extra cloth and it looked new. The cloth might look better with the leather to some. Hope this helps and more importantly saves you some cash.
