Any suggestions on decarbonizing the intake for preventive maintenance? 61k 2009 XK

 

If you had DI engine, it would be walnut blasting. I doubt you have that kind of build up on your valves or stems. I dunno, inspect the throttle body and maybe clean it? There are chemical cleaners for non direct inject engines but I have no experience with them. my two cents.

 

What Sean said; Only GDI engines suffer from the intake valve malady. We intake systems (every one BUT GDI) cleans the valves with every squirt of fuel.

Related, you CAN keep GDI intake valves clean by setting up a Meth Injection system. That'll clean the crap right off those valves.
