I have a 2008 xkr vert. I left the charger at my other house a week ago. It started when the screen wouldnt come on. I just went to the garage and the tail lights were dimly lit and the start button was illuminated. The battery is almost dead and none of the trunk open options (key, tab etc) work and when I bought the car I didnt get a trunk key. Any ideas much appreciated.

 

Remove the emergency metal key from your SmartKey fob. There is not a specific trunk key. You can use that to unlock the trunk...keyhole is to right of license plate.

Positive charging terminal is behind the louvered panel on left side of trunk. Minus charging terminal (chassis) is under trunk floor next to spare. It is safer for the car to charge the battery for a while rather than jump start if you can.

 

If you do not have the emergency key, you can access the same positive point from under the car outside, behind the left rear wheel. It is covered with a rubber boot and has a very thick wire going to it. Minus would be any bare metal on the chassis.

 

thank you very much. I got a charger on it but the start button still wont shut the car off and the tail lights are on. I hope when the charge is restored it will be normal.

 

It will probably need a few hours unless it is a high amperage charger.

Are you underneath or did you get in the trunk?
