Post Some servicing advice on the SC

Thanks all for the wealth of information here.

I have the 4.2 SC so the drain plug is on the front (I guess 5.0L owners could just turn the car around LOL)

I am looking to drain / refill the SC with oil without removing it...
Can this be done by sucking out (most) of the oil and replenishing it?
Is there a procedure for doing this?
...and what oil is recommended?

Then for the coolant...

How best to do this? I do not want to deal with the plug on the top so perhaps a vacuum method?

I would be very grateful for any specifics on how to do this.
Many thanks

Phil

Phil - check these videos out - the hardest thing is getting the plug out. For coolant I believe there is a drain plug underneath the front end of the car.

I use the old stand by. ACDelco SC oil. Available everywhere and works just fine.

Thank you so much McJag!
I have the thermostat manifold off so hopefully the oil change part will be a little less of a pain. I am able to insert a long 3/8" drive allen wrench into the plug from the front of the engine.

Filling the supercharger with coolant without having to remove the filler plug may be more of a challenge.

According to the manual:

10. Remove the supercharger coolant filler plug.
· Remove and discard the sealing washer.

11.
CAUTION: Coolant may spill from the supercharger fill port when the ignition is
switched on.
Switch the ignition on.

12.
CAUTION: Do not allow the supercharger coolant pump to run dry for more
than one minute. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
Allow the supercharger pump to run and top-up the coolant through the supercharger fill port.
· Switch the ignition off.

13. Install the supercharger coolant fill plug and tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb.ft).
· Clean the components.
· Install a new sealing washer.

Got it!

So remove plug, turn ignition on (no start obviously!) top up through plug port and stop when it is full?

BTW - I am going to have to refill the entire cooling system - I assume that the SC will be the last thing that I have to fill?

...now to try to locate that fill plug washer. You would not have access to that part number perchance?

For some reason there are ZERO parts available for these Jags anywhere here in Las Vegas - who knew!

Default Supercharger fill plug gasket AJ89646

I almost know the answer to this, but is there any way that I can use this gasket?

I’m at the point where I’m ready to put everything back together again, but cannot find another gasket less about a week away.

Can this gasket used for example with a little coating of gasketcinch for ThreeBond for example to make a good seal?
