Default Do You Guys Like the Slightly Taller Optional Wing?

Peeps,

I'm debating ordering that slightly higher duck wing like on the 175. I didn't too much like the sharp edges of the ground effects on the 175 as they look like a ground effects kit and IMHO disrupt the clean lines.

But the spoiler may work. It is a bit more aggressive and with my car being lowered, exhaust, diffuser and wheels soon to come I am thinking it could work.

Thoughts?

Its a no from me.

I looked into this a few weeks ago and decided against it ... the only part of the speed pack I don't like is the massive rear fin.

Did you end up keeping your Jag in the end? If so did you change the rims etc that you planned?

Like. It's on my 175. It looks good with the rear diffuser. I like it a lot more than the XKR-S spoiler. I think the XKR-S spoiler looks after market and not keeping with the lines of the car. However, the 175 works for me.

I like the whole speed pack kit that is on the XKR 175...o I like the bigger spoiler.

I don't know what it would look like without the rear diffuser/valence...the bigger spoiler will add some additional "perspective" which will draw the eye and may produce an unbalanced look. Not sure...just thinking out loud.

This is along the same lines of blacking out the chrome blade, which allows a more balanced look of the rear of the car...without the chrome blade the eyes aren't drawn in to the center of the cars rear and you "see" a wider, sexier rear end.

Also, I forgot to say, the spoiler has an antenna in it on the 2010-11 XK/R's, so you will have to order your spoiler from Jaguar (Part No. C2P22257XXX) in order to get the built in antenna.

The Mina spoiler will not work since you cannot re-use the antenna that is integrated with your existing spoiler.

I verified this with Jaguar/Landrover of Northpoint in Roswell, GA.

So the spoiler I bought from Mina will not work on my 2010. It would be fine for 2007 - 2009 XK/R's...

I like the larger spoiler as I've had it on my car for almost 3 years now. It makes it more sporty as my OEM spoiler looks alittle too small IMO.

Here's what it looks like unpainted. I went with the OEM larger spoiler (not the Mina): https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...spoiler-36866/

Smaller (whem my car was stock) vs Larger Spoiler (current):

I agree the larger spoiler may need the diffuser to balance. Although the Speed Pack doesn't have the Mina or RS diffuser.

I ordered the same diffuser as on Ghostrider's car. But Mina just mentioned a carbon fiber version that is just the middle part and bolts right on. So the wrap look that results in the ridge down the side of rear bumper won't be there. It would remain smooth on the sides but with diffuser in middle. This may work better for me as I don't plan on adding the side skirts as I like a very clean look. I don't think even the RS has the same sharp side skirts that Mina sells does it?

Anyhow, I like the the center kit will be Carbon. Here is a rendering Mina provided me. The top is the rendering, the bottom is the RS for comparison. You can also see Ghost's pic and note the wraparound that will be gone.

This may be the way to go for myself as well. Very interested to hear how the new carbon fiber center only diffuser works for you. I like that it just bolts on.

Please post pics and give us a review once you have it on...

How easy is it to fit the speed pack spoiler (C2P22257XXX) ?

Instructions welcome.

Thanks

I ordered one and it now comes with the wiring included for the antennae. Also the carbon fiber diffusor is supposed to be ready next week.

Evoking:

Can you tell us how your OptiCoat Pro 2.0 is holding up?

A thread was started on OptiCoat over the last few days.

I am getting ready to Opticoat 2.0 my cars.

I think the larger spoiler looks good with the diffuser. I'm still deciding in it myself but definitely want a diffuser with a carbon center.

I like this diffuser better than any I've seen. What's the price on the carbon version?

As richzak stated, how is your Opti Coat holding up and what have you done to maintain it? We can move the Opti coat comments to another thread but thank you richzak for mentioning it here.

Just as an FYI - the full Speed Pack kit decreases lift by 25%. The R-S kit (bigger wing, bigger splitter) only improves that by 1%. The Speed Pack's high-speed stability is impressive.

If you want the aero improvements, I suspect that fitting the Speed Pack or a close equivalent is the way to go - and that would be the whole pack, front, sides & rear, to get the full effect. Leaving off the side skirts, for example, will take away a lot of the benefit.

However, if you're just looking for aesthetic tweaks, then it's a matter of taste, and the aero considerations are not material.

Of course I'm going on the pics only, which I acknowledge can be deceiving, but I prefer the smaller rear wing over the taller one. The latter changes the perfect curve from fender to fender and looks like an add-on, which opposes the natural flow of the lines. I'm not being critical, but rather stating my personal tastes.
