Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.....
Man say it ain't so... you have shown your car more Love than any one person could be expected to do. All the rust repair, etc, you have always been my salvation when I get disgusted with my car I say to myself, "well at least I'm not dealing with what RD has to deal with"
No idea what that "white stuff" on the ground is but it must be bad if you are thinking of giving up!

Yes, had a bit of a bad day today, first this and then I painted the drivers door and got some terrible runs that will take many hours to fix. I shouldn't really complain too much as I am now in the last month of a 6 month holiday, the summer has been cold which is a bit disappointing but it has finally turned warm this week. Anyway this career break has given me the chance to do lots of jobs in the house and the cars.
With all the effort I have put in to the XK8 I feel that I shouldn't walk away, then another thing like this happens.
It was the aluminium bracket that holds the wing mirror on returning back to aluminium ore.

Jaguar seem to have made this car out of total junk, low grade cheap metals, very disappointing.

Oh yes - same material as the posts that support (for a while) the rear bumper on XJ's. The alloy is Mazac - very light and moulds extremely fine detail. However, given a bit of salt and water ................ it crumbles away!
I'm beginning to think that your car must be in a hell of a state RD. Too late to stop now - finish the job or you'll always kick yourself. However, next time you look at a 'project', take a list of items that, if present, results in the 'Basket Case' classification!

Well you live and learn, it looked perfect when I bought it, with a full Jag service history, 10 stamps in the book, however that clearly means absolutely nothing for a Jag that has spent 10 years on cold, wet salty Scottish roads.
Now this is what I need. http://www.scparts.co.uk/sc_en/body-shell-69423.html
