Sorry to resurrect an old thread.
We just received our first F-Type SVRs a month or so ago and there have been several bulletins regarding the fact that there is intentionally no engine cover, Jaguar formally states that it's for enhanced engine cooling. They do have a small rubber shield attached to the hood in it's places, but that's all!

 

There is a similar debate on the F-Type forum. Several F Type guys did temperature checks with the cover on and off. No difference at all. No potential damage to the paint or other engine parts.


So it seems as if it is a way to save 5 lbs on you car. From what I read on the F- Type forum it is a matter of personal preference. The SVR and Project 7 do not have covers out of the factory.


The consensus seems split. Some love the look with it off....some think it would turn Medusa herself to stone if she looked at it.


I got a hydrographic quote in Charlotte for $150 for the engine cover. I had to bring it to the shop and pick it up.
