Default Do you like the E-dip stick

I am still out in determining if I like the E dipstick instead of a real one. My kids Audi A4 has one but because the 2.0L turbo is an oil burner type engine we bought an after market dip stick as a back up. With that system it takes maybe a minute to do a read where the jag requires a min. of about 5 minutes. To bad you can't check it when it's cold . I have been resetting my gearhead mentality to adjust for the differences of daily checks of fluids and pressures to something that needs to be done every 2-4 weeks. This part makes it a little boring but the offset is I drive it more.

No, I don't like it and would prefer a real dip stick. Then again, I also wish I had a real temperature gauge!

I would like an E-dipstick. Where do I get one???

I think dipsticks can often be hard to read, especially if oil has gotten up the dipstick tube or if the oil is pretty fresh and isn't dark yet!

I can't help you on the hard to read problem because I don't seem to have that. Also if the engine is taken care of you should not have "dark" oil unless it is the color of the oil that you use. I have 30K miles on my Lexus (bought new) and change the oil every 5,000 miles using 5W-30 dino oil. It is as clean when I drain it as when I put it in.
