Default door handle keyhole bezel

Lost mine, had to buy one off Ebay. these are almost impossible to find. the aftermarket ones are the wrong profile, i tried one. so i decided to try to make my own. i used the one i got from Ebay as the model and made a silicone mold then used epoxy resin to cast a reproduction. turned out great and fits as it should. i only have to paint it now.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say if you were to make pairs of those and sell them, you’d recoup your time/$ making the mold and then some.

I know I’d buy two.

will have to do some testing as to how it will hold up under hot conditions like sunlight, etc. it is epoxy resin and not an acrylic plastic. Paint it first and then i'll have to get a heat lamp or put it in the oven at 100 degrees to test.

Very ingenious - I don't see the two tabs that clip the cover into place.

Several are available online..

Have to order correct number which is confusing..

got mine from LandLeaoing.com. original Jaguar part fits well but without the 2 arms....but fits tight..

Can get the armed ones too online.

mine is the TALL version, not flat

color a little darker, but OK

It was $45.26 with shipping and tax.....

i'm experimenting with different casting materials. the stuff i used i already had from a different project and it takes approx. 72 hours to demold, that's way too long for any kind of mass production. i tried one product that resulted in too many air bubbles in the finished product. i'll try another product and let you know.

This looks like it might be the ebay listing... https://www.ebay.com/itm/32694331839...Bk9SR9Cq4rnyZg

ebay shows it as 'New Listing' and you can also see the red mold in the background of the pic. @fishbait1 can you confirm?

thats the listing but i have just 3 made as of now and then i'll have to remove the listing until i get more ready. it takes about 7-8 days to make one and let it fully cure. its a slow process. i can't use marketplace as i have not made enough posts i guess or can't figure out how it works.
