The key fob locks doors (you can hear it) but doors don't really lock ....you can walk over and still open doors.....(even though key fob is no where near the car

 

Do the interior door handles retract when the car is locked? And, can you lock the doors manually using the interior handles? How about when you push the LOCK tab on the exterior door handle?

You should edit your Signature in the User Control Panel, and add which year and model you own. That would make it a bit easier to help.

 

Do you hear the short beep to acknowledge the vehicle is locked, or does it beep several times? Beeping several times indicates the bonnet or other opening isn't fully closed.

 

I should have remembered this, literally two weeks ago my boot was.... not unlatched, but something wonky happened and it wasn't closed, but didn't have the BOOT OPEN light, but it still prevented me from locking the car. I had to close it firmly a few times before everything sorted itself.
