Default Driver's Seat Backrest Issues - UPDATE

Hi Guys:

2012 XKR Convertible.

To update my previous post, here is some more information.

To recap, all power options on the driver's seat are working normally except the power back recline. Seat heating and cooling are also working normally.

I tested and retested over a 24 hour period. I did not use the car during that time, so I am ruling out vibrations or loose connections causing the issues. Car battery fully charged.

So, to update.....

Occasionally (but rarely) power seat back recline works as it should, both backwards and forwards.

Mostly, nothing happens when I move the door switch but if I hold the switch forward or backward, then after 3 to 4 seconds, the seat back will move about a quarter of an inch in whatever direction I am holding the switch. I then let the switch go and then hold it again for 3 or 4 seconds and the seat back then will move again, the same quarter of an inch. I tried holding the switch for longer than the 3 to 4 seconds but it made no difference.

I have read other posts about faulty seat modules but due to the fact that the recline works normally sometimes, it doesn't seem to me that it would be the seat module?

Has anyone else experienced this and what was the cause/fix?

Thanks.

Roger

I'm talking about the power option for backrest driver comfort (16 way power seats), not the lever on the top to gain access to the back seats.

Definitely get your hands on a workshop manual. Super good reading.

Here's what I found in it - seems like your issues fit either step 2 or 3 of the screenshot - hopefully just a simple calibration for you.

Wow! Thank you so very much!

It certainly looks like step 2 is the issue.

You have made an old man very happy and, yes, I will get the manual.

Thanks again.

Roger

PS: My wife and I were in Auckland a few years ago. We had a most wonderful time!

Awesome! let us know how you go. A dealer can calibrate the seats, or you can yourself in various ways.

Glad you had a great time in Auckland. Plenty of good driving roads around here as well!

There is a known issue: That the seat modules need a re-flash. (Seems to occur intermittently following a failed battery situation)
