Default Driver's seat module problem?

Even though I never disabled the dip feature, I do not use the passenger mirror for reverse parking. About a week ago I noticed the mirror was pointed at the sky, even though I have a memory position set for normal driving. I set the mirror to my favorite position and continued on.

Today I parked the car at my destination, took care of my business and returned to the car finding the driver's seat switch pack non functional and with no power for the backlight. All other electrics worked fine including mirrors, windows and locks. I disassembled the door thinking perhaps the connector had come lose to the switch pack. That wasn't it. I pulled fuse #9 and it was fine. I also pulled fuse #18 and it was fine but when I replaced it, the seat started working again!

Now the reverse mirror dip went "out of sync" again and a while later I received the message to reset the park brake. I now reset the park brake, disabled the dip feature and set new memory presets.

Anybody have any insight regarding these glitches? Are they all related? Or sign a bigger problem?

Battery time

I had the very same issue with mine. The first time it happened I pulled out the meter and began tracing wires/fuses etc. I took a break to answer the phone and when I came back, it was working again.

The second time, I just disconnected the battery for a few minutes and voila - back in business.

After that (and a few other electrical oddities), I installed an Odyssey AGM battery and I haven't had any electrical issues since.

Jaguar replaced the battery a year ago with a brand new Jaguar branded battery so I doubt it is the battery.

It doesn't take much of a drop in voltage to confuse these cars. The fact that it reset when you pulled the fuse is a pretty good indication of it.

It may not be the issue but, it's certainly the place to start with these cars. There's a whole thread of electrical gremlins caused by a drop in battery voltage somewhere in this forum.

I am very familiar with battery problems having contributed to a few threads myself and experiencing it for myself with a 6 year old Jag battery on the SuperV8.

Just not the first place I would look considering the newness of the replacement.

Okay just double checked. The battery was manufactured in September of 2013 and replaced this past December, 6 months ago.

Still sounds like a possibly a low charge in the battery or possibly a defective new battery . Does the car ever sit undriven more than a week at a time? Do you take mostly very short trips?

Check the voltage with the engine off with a multimeter after the car has sat overnight. If you are under 12.3 volts or so all is not well.

I WILL check the battery as it is easy to do today. I do drive the car very little, maybe 4-5K miles per year. Sometimes 100-200 miles in a day, sometimes several short 3-15 mile trips running errands or cruising the beaches. Same with the '08 XK ragtop, but never had battery issues with that one or any other vehicle for that matter.

I have been meaning to get a tender for the battery as I did for my Waverunner but have not gotten around to it.

If the car has been off for at least 8 hours chances are the battery is OK (though this type of test is not 100% definitive, since, for example, a battery can still rarely have an intermittent mechanical fault in a cell).
