Default Drivers Side Airbag Light

I had my car in the shop yesterday as I was getting new tires and somehow the battery died when they went to start it. Don't know if it was because the key fob was left in my car or what. They jumped it and everything was fine for the rest of the day. Today, I started it up and the airbag light on the speedo was lit up. It remained on all day while I was driving it. Does anyone know how to reset it so it goes off or what the cause of it staying lit when I drive it? Thanks. Mike
Btw, it's a 2007 XKR

I'm curious to hear the answer because I'm having the same issue myself. Seems like a common answer is that a sensor came loose under the drivers seat...

I don't know about the Jags in particular, but usually if there's an airbag fault, you need to reset it via the ECU/ODBD port. Anyone with a decent generic scanner can reset the codes. If you don't want to visit your dealer, you can try one of your local mechanics or even an auto parts store will often have them to help determine what you need to buy (if anything).

There is a TSB about the passenger seat belt warning - see below. Also I had some gremlins occur after the battery drained on my 07XK. My issue was a TPMS warning when all tires had the correct pressure. The fix was a simple reset by removing the fuse and replacing it. This may also work for the airbag light. It would appear that the XK's diagnostic systems are very sensitive and these gremlins tend to appear if your battery is not 100% healthy. Also remember to always lock you car. This shuts everything down besides the essentials.

Well, I finally took it into the Jag dealership a few weeks back and after a while of them trying to fig out the issue they asked if it was ever in an accident cause they said the seat belt tensioner might be bad and I obviously said no. Car fax checked out when I bought it but obviously that's not the end all be all. Said I need a new seat belt buckle and if that didnt work they would replace the computer module. I told them it came on after a year of owning it and right when I changed the battery. I asked how much the buckle was and they came back with part and installation around $600 + cause they have to remove the seat. I pretty much laughed out loud..that's crazy. I don't even think that's the problem. Tech said the air bag light couldn't be reset but I doubt that. Anyone have a solution so the light can be turned off? Will unhooking the battery cables and holding them together for a few seconds and hook them back up work? Thanks

Yes, disconnecting the battery cables and touching the positive (+) and negative (-) clamps together is called a HARD RESET. It's like rebooting your computer to clear glitches. See Brutal's Post #6 in this 2008 thread for the correct way to do a HARD RESET on a 4.2L X150.

And see WhiteXKR's Post #5 for the correct way to reset the windows, which will need to be done after a HARD RESET.

@MJB1221 , I am disappointed to hear that your dealer can not sort the root cause PRIOR to prescribing a fix. And as there is a TSB on the situation , (thanks @sjtyrer ) why that wasn’t attempted at the dealer first… pro bouno.

@Stuart S suggests, I’d be surprised a simple RESET wouldn’t cure it…. at least until the next time the battery fails.
As you’ll see in many, many threads here; the battery reset process is akin to the parting of the sea.
